Bettye Rittenberry Coggin
January 22, 1942 — October 27, 2025

Bettye Rittenberry Coggin, a beloved figure and cherished matriarch of her family, passed away on October 28, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on January 22, 1942, in Columbia, TN, Bettye’s life was marked by her unwavering love for her family and her dedication to her career.

For over 20 years, Bettye served as the Kitchen Manager for Metro Public Schools, where she became known for her nurturing spirit and commitment to providing nourishing meals for countless children. Her service extended beyond the school kitchen; she spent 13 years driving 18-wheelers alongside her husband, Mr. Harold Coggin, showcasing her adventurous side and strong work ethic.

Bettye’s personality was a unique blend of loving, caring, and strong-willed. She was supportive to those around her and maintained a no-nonsense approach to life, earning the respect and admiration of family and friends alike. Her proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly her family, which she cherished above all else.

In her free time, Bettye found joy in baking and often filled her home with the delightful aromas of her culinary creations. She had a passion for listening to audio books from the library, a pastime that broadened her horizons and enriched her mind. A true animal lover, she formed special bonds with dogs and cats alike, treating them as integral members of her family. Additionally, Bettye had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, with a particular fondness for the beautiful Smokey Mountains, where she enjoyed spending time in nature.

Bettye is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Mr. Harold Coggin; her sons, Jeff and Timothy(Barry); and her brother, Thomas Rittenberry.

Bettye is predeceased by her parents, Horace and Frances Rittenberry, and two brothers, Wayne and Larry Rittenberry.

Her warmth, kindness, and indomitable spirit will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Bettye Rittenberry Coggin leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, forever etched in the hearts of her family and friends.

Vickie Diane Riddle-Patula
April 25, 1959 ~ October 26, 2025
66 Years Old

Vickie Diane Riddle-Patula passed peacefully at home into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 26, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, love, joy, and strength that touched everyone blessed to know her.

Vickie drew her unwavering strength from her deep relationship with Jesus Christ. Her heart overflowed with love for her children, Charlye Ramsey and husband Josh Aman, and Houston Ramsey and wife Becky. She adored her precious grandchildren, Preston Ramsey, Carter Ramsey, Indigo Aman, Phoenix Aman, and Jupiter Aman who brought her immense joy and laughter.

She is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Janet (Mike) Theiss and Pam (Shannon) Neal; her dearest friend, “BFF” Elizabeth Chezem; many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and cherished friends. Vickie was preceded in death by her husband George Patula, her beloved granddaughter, Charlotte Aman; her parents, William Henry “Rusty” and Doris Scott Riddle; her brothers, Bill Riddle and Tommy Riddle; her sister, Sandra Riddle; and her nephew, James “Punkin” Moore Jr.

Born on April 25, 1959, in Houston, Texas, Vickie lived her life to the fullest and was known for her strength, generosity, and radiant spirit. She graduated from Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN, earning a degree in Registered Nursing. Her career reflected her deep care for others and her servant’s heart.

Vickie was an active member of Lighthouse Ministries, where she volunteered her time and cherished fellowship with women who shared her faith. She found happiness in horseback riding with friends, line dancing, and crocheting. She loved her family deeply, animals—especially horses—contemporary Christian music and good Mexican food.

A celebration of Vickie’s remarkable life will be held at Hopewell Baptist Church on Thursday, November 13, 2025. The family will receive friends and family from 2:00-5:00 with service to follow at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, it was her wish that donations be made in her memory to causes close to her heart, Open Door Pregnancy & Resource Center, Isaiah 117 House Robertson County, Haven 12:10 Animal Sanctuary.

Vickie’s faith, love, and laughter will forever shine in the hearts of all who knew her.

Betty Juanita Moseman

Betty Juanita Moseman, age 83, of Cedar Hill, passed away on October 27, 2025, at her home. Her wishes are to be cremated, and no services are planned at this time.

Mrs. Moseman was born on November 20, 1941, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Thomas and Carolyn Mosley White. She loved being on the water, whether it was fishing with her husband and kids, or water skiing. She also enjoyed horses and riding dirt bikes. In her free time, you could find Mrs. Moseman sketching, painting, or watching a good Western movie. She loved the Lord above everything. She was a great mother who loved her children, not just in the words she said, but in the way she cared for them. She was a generous mother and made sure her family was taken care of in all aspects of life. In the closing years of her life, she was blessed with a grandson whom she loved dearly.

Mrs. Moseman is survived by her son: Brian Edward (Gabriene) Moseman of Virginia, by her daughter: Lisa (Joe) Dziezgowski of Cedar Hill, by her sisters: Sandra Farley of Georgia and Wynell Boss of Florida, and by her grandson: Hudson Moseman of Virginia. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moseman is preceded in death by her husband: Walter Dillard Moseman.

David Lee Collins

Mr. David Lee Collins, age 70, of Springfield, died on Monday, October 27, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 3:30 pm at Mt. Sharon Church. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until time of service at 3:30 pm at Mt. Sharon Church.

Mr. Collins was born on May 12, 1955, in Clarksville, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his Mami who raised him, Dola Wheless, his daughter, Brenda K. Collins, and his brother, Robert Collins. David loved being with his family. It was the most important part of his life. He enjoyed being with his family so much that he had nicknames for each of his family members and loved to joke around with everyone he came in contact with. He loved mowing the grass and tinkering with lawn mowers. One of his favorite hobbies was fishing, and especially deep-sea fishing.

Mr. Collins is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sherry Krantz Collins of Springfield, daughters, Angela (Brandon) Landrum of Springfield, Amanda Collins (Chis Duke) of Adams, brothers, Jim (Sally) Collins of Southside, TN, John (Brenda) Collins of Greenbrier, grandchildren, Alexandria Nicole (Dylan) Dunford, Savannah Wilkerson, Sarah Duncan, and Tanner Landrum, great grandchildren, Rilynn Landrum, Braley Davis, Spencer Landrum, Waylyn Davis, Collins Dunford, and Asher Duncan, and his most faithful dog, Penny.

Jeanette (Birdwell) Clark

93 Years Old

Jeanette Birdwell Clark, 93, of Springfield, passed from this life on Wednesday October 29, 2025, at Skyline Medical Center. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday November 1st at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakland Cemetery with Tony Cobb officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home.

Ms. Jeanette was born August 7, 1932, in Robertson County, to the late Thomas and Maggie Julia Norris Birdwell. She was a graduate of Springfield High School and was a member of Springfield Baptist Church where she was a member of the June Burr-Miriam Bibb Sunday School class. Ms. Jeanette was a retired secretary from Genesco. Following retirement, she worked at Goody’s in Springfield until the store closing. She loved gardening, feeding all the stray cats that gathered at her home, and her greatest love was taking care of her husband of 62 years, George.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister: Nancy Pepper and by her brother: Charles Birdwell. Ms. Jeanette is survived by her husband: George E. Clark of Springfield, by special nephew: Johnathon Hagey, by her nephews: Kelvin Emery, Johnny Pepper, and Chad Birdwell, by her nieces: Kelly Pepper, Julia Little, Nicole Birdwell-Smith, Tiffany Long and Betsy Axley, and by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lucy Mae (Moon) Hicks
July 21, 1937 ~ October 30, 2025
88 Years Old

Lucy Mae (Moon) Hicks of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on October 30, 2025, at the age of 88. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends at her home.

Memorial services will be conducted Friday November 7, 2025, at 2 pm in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home. Bro. Marvin Crouch and Bro. Billy Traughber will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 am until the hour of service at 2 pm.

Ms. Lucy was born July 21, 1937, in Springfield, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Maude Baker Moon; her brother Sory Moon; daughter Sheila Watts Stephens; and her fur babies, Snowman and Jacque.

Ms. Lucy, as she was affectionally referred to, was a member of First Baptist Church in Hendersonville, Tennessee, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She worked many years at Farmers Bank and retired as branch manager from Investors Savings and Loan Bank. She was often called “Lysol Lucy” because of the sparkle and shine seen around her home from cleaning. She loved gospel and country music and, in her younger years, square danced on the Grand Ole Opry stage.

Lucy is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 34 years, Theron Hicks; son Terry (Anita) Watts; daughters Stephanie (David) Shreeve and Teena (Ronnie) Mayo; and sister, Judy Henderson; as we as nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was loved by several nieces, nephews, and a wonderful circle of cherished neighbors and friends.

In lieu of flowers, it was her wish that donations be considered in her memory to a cause close to her heart, Robertson County Animal Shelter. All donations can be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.

Richard Allen Durham

Richard Allen Durham, age 92 of Adams, passed from this life on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at his home. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 12:00 noon in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Eddie Bellar and Bro. Tyler Estep officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip Davis, Max Davis, Josh Smith, Christopher Smith, Jimmy Dowlen, and Brayden Dowlen. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of service. His cremains will be buried in Bellwood Cemetery at a later date.

Mr. Richard was born on August 27, 1933, in Oak Grove, TN in Sumner County to the late Robert Wayne and Allene Freeland Durham. He was a member of Adams United Methodist Church and The Adams Fisherman’s Club. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was retired from Dupont. He enjoyed traveling with his son turkey and quail hunting. He was also a beekeeper and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Edna Hamlin Durham; son, Dennis Eugene Smith; and brother, Thomas Ward Durham. Surviving him are his son, Tommy Durham of Old Hickory; daughter and son-in-law, Celia and Eddie Bellar of Adams; sister, Sheri Alford of Adams; six grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

Patricia Whitaker Farmer, 78, of Springfield, passed from this life on Monday November 3, 2025, at TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center. Graveside services will be conducted Friday November 7th at 11:00 a.m. in the Oakland Cemetery with Toby Mendenhall, Jr., Benjamin Mendenhall, Gary Whitaker, Kevin Whitaker, Darren Hallman, and David Mendenhall serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Friday November 7th at the Robertson County Funeral Home.

Patricia was born June 15, 1947, in Springfield, to the late Jessie and Ruth Nixon Whitaker. She was a graduate of Springfield High School Class of 1967 and was of the Baptist faith. Patricia worked many years at Southern Heel in Springfield, and then worked as a Quality Assurance Technician at Collins Aikman in Springfield. She loved sewing, traveling, and making porcelain dolls. Patricia’s favorite pastime in life was spending time with her family, especially all of her nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Glendon Whitaker. Patricia is survived by her sister and brother-in-law: Karen and David Mendenhall of Springfield, by her nephews: Mathew Mendenhall, Toby Mendenhall, Jr., Benjamin Mendenhall, Gary Whitaker, and Kevin Whitaker, by her sister-in-law: Linda Whitaker of Springfield, and by a host of great nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bay was born November 14, 1959, in Davidson County, to the late Willie Bee Bay, and the late Ruby Lee McMurtry Bay. He was a Baker and managed several Bakeries for local grocery stores throughout his career.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bay was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Earl and Edna Bay Sr.; maternal grandparents, Luther L. and Matty McMurtry; aunts, Sandra Faye McMurtry, Genevia Bradshaw and Dorothy Bay; and uncles, Charles Bay and Earl Bay Jr.

He is survived by brothers, Gary Wayne (Becky) Bay and Keith William Bay; sister, Sandra Elizabeth (Frank) Hoilman; aunts, Juanita Stephenson and Peggy Bay; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Steve was born May 24,1950 in Nashville, TN to the late William Leonard Dorris and Cleo Delsey Connor. He was preceded in death by his brother, William R. “Billy” Dorris.

Steve was a cancer survivor, world traveler, passionate runner, animal lover, cattle farmer, hardworker, Army paratrooper, and a sweet, kind fellow! Steve was a beloved son, brother, teacher and coach serving in several schools in Robertson County but spent the majority of his career as a PE Coach, Math Teacher, Wrestling and Cross Country Coach at Greenbrier. He was a valued member of Wartrace Methodist Church.

He is survived by sisters, Diann Dorris (Jack Beckford) and Donna Ruth Shelton (Marlin) and a large extended family.

Phillip LancePhillip Wade Lance, age 62, of Lewisburg, Tennessee, and formerly of Springfield, passed away Thursday, October 30th, 2025, at Marshall Medical Center.

He was born August 27th, 1963, in Springfield, Tennessee, to the late J.C. Lance and Mrs. Maxine Smith-Hester of Springfield. He was an avid animal rescuer, and enjoyed fixing cars and clocks, and watching football. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

In addition to his mother, Maxine Hester, he is survived by his wife, Jennifer Park Lance of Lewisburg; two sons, Wade Lance of Springfield, and Dalton Lance of Hickman County, granddaughter, Paisley Lance, sister, Leah Hornbuckle of Springfield, and brothers, Tony Lance and Brian Lance, both of Springfield.

The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.

Joe Julian Tate
September 17, 1931 – November 1, 2025

Joe Julian TateWhite House Tennessee -Joe Julian Tate, age 94, a dedicated public servant and respected figure in White House, Tennessee as well as across the country in his profession, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025.

Joe was born in Sumner County, White House Tennessee on September 17, 1931. His parents Ralph and Florence (Palmer) Tate preceded him in death as did his beloved siblings Wynell (Tate) Whitaker and Doug Tate. He is also preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Thelma Jean (Biggs) Tate, whom he married November 7, 1959. She was truly the love of his life.
Joe was a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church for 54 years. He loved his church and the amazing and loyal friends he and his wife made there. The love and joy that has been received from Bethlehem Baptist Church over the years goes beyond words and will forever fills our hearts with gratitude

Joe dedicated his life to serving his country and his community. He was drafted into the United States Army at the age of 18 and served in the Korean War stationed on Jeju (Cheju) Island, Korea, the site of a secret POW camp/prison that housed up to 170,000 prisoners of war.

After the Army, Joe attended Draughon’s Business College. While there, he accepted a suggestion that he go on a blind date with a beautiful fellow student, Thelma Jean Biggs, who fell for his many charms and became his wife.
Joe also attended Middle Tennessee State University before transferring to the greatest college of all times, The University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He graduated with a degree in Logistics and Transportation and began a distinguished career in the federal government with the Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC). His service to the nation, through working with the ICC, included Congressional consultations, advising leaders in the private sector of the transportation industry, and investigating and reporting on compliance with federal laws governing transportation. He protected the safety of motorists and ensured that the needs of the Nation were met through an efficient and effective transportation system. Following his retirement from the federal government with the ICC, he continued to contribute his expertise as a consultant in the private sphere as an ICC practitioner.

He was a long-time member and charitable giver to the American Legion, University of Tennessee Alumni Association, Robertson County Sheriff’s Association and many others too numerous to mention.

He will be remembered for his humorous stories, his integrity and sharp mind, and his devotion to his family as well as his passion for the history of the Sumner County, Tennessee area. In his 94 years he was proud of never missing a Tate or Palmer reunion other than his time away in the service. He took great pride as well in being a grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his daughters Julia Jean Tate-Keith (Lisa) and Linda “Jill” Tate Martin (Ron). His daughters brought grandchildren into his life, BaileyTate Martin (Bailey), Clarissa Lee Martin (Lonnie), Chase McMillin (Caitlin), Jessie McMillin (Brian), Luke Tate-Keith, and Liam Tate-Keith, as well as great-grandchildren Brody Michael Britton, Brighton Rae Ledbetter, Robert Tate Martin, Banx Lee Ledbetter, Josie Kate McMillin, and Wyatt Kevin McMillin. He will also forever be remembered by other loved ones, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service is scheduled for Friday, November 7, 2025 at 1pm in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House, with Bro. Bob Carroll officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery with military honors and with. Bailey Martin, Larry Tate, Chase McMillin, Tommy Byrum, Raymond Sanders, Tony Tate, Herb Lord, Tim Murphy, Luke Tate-Keith, and Liam Tate-Keith serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers Cliff White and Brad Houk. Visitation is planned for Thursday, November 6, 2025 4-8PM and Friday, November 7, 2025 10am until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Donald was born on November 11, 1965, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Jesse Anderson & Barbara Meadows Armstrong. He was a heavy equipment operator for Hoover Materials and previously worked for over 30 years for Quad Graphics Printing Company. Donald was a personable, outgoing man who loved cars and jacked up trucks. He especially loved his family and grandkids. An interesting fact about Donald was that he and his brother were one out of 3 sets of twins.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Mike Anderson.

He is survived by his wife, Charity Anderson; daughter, Barbi (Colby) Weakley; siblings, Ronald “Buster” Anderson, Fay (George) Bray, Kay (Dennis) Overstreet, Lisa (Eddie) Armstrong-Solis, and Janet (Scott) Perrins; grandchildren, Ellie & Dudley Weakley; step-son, Anthony Patterson; mother of his child, Lisa Anderson; and many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 o’clock pm, Tuesday, November 11th, at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Pastor Marty Marshall, Pastor Ann Culver, and Pastor Don Terry officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, November 10th from 2:00-6:00PM, and again on Tuesday beginning at 2:00PM until the hour of service at 3:00PM.

Michael was born on October 18, 1963, in Embarrass, Minnesota, to Regina (Ray) Rice and the late Michael Zumbrunnen II. He was Vice President of Manufacturing Operations at Bath Fitter for over 15 years. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and collecting old records. He was a member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his step-mom, Betty Zumbrunnen; mother-in-law & father-in-law, Shirley & Joe Larson; step-brother, Ron Rice; and niece, Alicia Wollmer.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 40 years, Connie Zumbrunnen; children, Kayla Zumbrunnen and Kyle Zumbrunnen; brothers, Tom (Marina) Rice and Darrin Tisdell; sisters, Angie (Chris) Scribner, Jackie (Jeff) Fernandez, Rhonda (Dale) Tirevold, and Carrie Sutherland; sister-in-law, Linda (Randy) Wollmer; nieces, Bridgett (Matt) Roy, Amanda (Nick) Ryskamp, and Madalyn Scribner; nephews, Dan (Jill) Wollmer, Carlos Wollmer, and Alex Wollmer; and lots of other loving great aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

There will also be a visitation at Hulke Family Funeral Home in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, on Monday, November 17th, from 4:00-7:00PM and the funeral will be conducted at 10:00AM on Tuesday, November 18th. Burial will follow the funeral service in Barum Lutheran Church Cemetery in Elk Mound, Wisconsin.

Alice BinkleyAlice Faye Binkley, age 82, of Pleasant View, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Riverview Post Acute in Ashland City.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 o’clock pm, Monday, November 10th, at New Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Joelton with Bro. Barry Simpson, Bro. Corey Minter, and Bro. Tom Malone officiating.
Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery with Dallas Beerman, Ryan Foust, Zachery Beerman, Corey Foust, John Daniel Newland, and Michael Newland serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the church on Monday beginning at 10:00AM until the hour of service at 1:00PM.

Mrs. Alice was born on May 29, 1943, in Springfield, Tennessee, to the late Rev. Raymond Mayo & Inez Fields Mayo. She was retired from Acme Boot Company, was an avid reader, and loved to play cards and board games. She also passionately loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She attended New Hope Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Binkley; brothers, Rev. Ray Mayo & Wayne Mayo; great-granddaughter, Jubilee Hope Foust; and beloved border collie, Sugar.

She is survived by her daughters, Anna (Robert) Newland, Cynthia Binkley, and Raquel (Wayne) Walker; brother, Pete Mayo; sisters, Barbara Hatfield, Delana Cheatham, and Doni Mayo (Dave Hodge); grandchildren, Dallas, Ryan, Shelby, Jessica, Amanda, Zachery, Corey, John Daniel, Kalvin, Rachel, Elizabeth, and Michael; and 17 great-grandchildren.
