THP Releases More Info Following Wednesday’s Fatal Hwy 41 Crash

SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The Tennessee Highway Patrol is now releasing more information regarding Wednesday night’s fatal crash on Highway 41 South at Worsham Springs Road. LOCATION OF CRASH The crash involved a passenger car and a pickup truck. One female (the driver of the passenger car) did not survive. A 12-year-old girl, also in the vehicle, sustained serious injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was also hospitalized.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s preliminary report, a 1995 Dodge Ram 3500, driven by 72-year-old William Eden of Tennessee, was stopped on the right shoulder facing southbound. The THP says Eden attempted a U-turn, pulling into the path of a 2019 Nissan Sentra traveling southbound in the left lane. The Nissan, driven by 35-year-old Kensey Ruck, struck the truck in a T-bone manner. Both vehicles then crossed the northbound lanes and came to rest in the right lane of northbound traffic.

Kensey Ruck, the driver of the Nissan, did not survive the crash. Ruck’s 12-year-old female passenger in the Nissan sustained serious injuries. The driver of the Dodge pickup, William Eden, was also injured. According to the THP’s preliminary report, charges for Eden are pending the outcome of the investigation.

Update on the 12-Year-Old

Following the crash, the 12-year-old girl was transported to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in critical condition. Robertson County EMS Director Brent Dyer provided an update and asked the community to keep the young girl and her family in their prayers. According to Director Dyer, the child has since been extubated, is sitting up, and has been talking. Her recovery has been described as miraculous, though she still faces a long road ahead.
