Miriam E. Pitt
March 21, 1958 — March 8, 2026
White House, TN

Miriam E. Pitt, age 67, of White House, TN passed away at the Alive Hospice of Nashville from a lengthy battle with Covid related epilepsy on March 8th, 2026. Born on March 21st, 1958, to the late Marvin and Annelle Champion in Jacksonville, FL, Miriam lived a life that showed her dedication and loyalty to her family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years Ronald Pitt, and her children Jessica (John) Avery and Jeremy Pitt. Miriam is also survived by her brother Rick (Ryan) Champion, sister Donna Pate, as well as her niece and nephew Nicole and Daniel. Although she is gone her memory will forever reside within them.

Miriam earned her degree in education from Trevecca Nazarene University, where she cultivated not only her academic talents but also the foundational qualities of a devoted and compassionate spirit. She proudly wore the title of a military wife, following her husband through changes of scenery as they moved from the serene landscapes of Alamogordo, New Mexico, to the captivating horizons of Fairbanks, Alaska. They would even go on to spend time stationed at the warm shores of Okinawa, Japan. Each relocation would prove time and time the support she was able to provide her husband, while allowing memories of togetherness and adventure, where they forged an unbreakable bond against the backdrop of a world in constant motion.

Her family was her proudest accomplishment, an enduring testament to her nurturing nature. Each moment spent with them was filled with love, laughter, and the simple joys of life. Miriam’s strong Christian faith provided a steadfast foundation for her family, as they found solace and community at The Church at Grace Park in White House, where she and her husband immersed themselves in fellowship, lighting up the lives of others through their faithful attendance.

In her free time, she enjoyed relaxation. Miriam thrived in the comfort of her loved ones, often found in quiet moments enjoying romance films and television shows, her laughter echoing softly in the spaces she occupied. As the years rolled forward, her kindness remained unyielding, a soft light in the lives that intertwined with hers.

Miriam’s final journey was undertaken with the same grace she exhibited throughout her life, passing after a brief time in hospice care, surrounded by the people she held most dear. Her memory will forever be cherished by those she leaves behind, a luminous presence that will be felt in every warm conversation, in the laughter shared over movie nights, and in the quiet comfort of family gatherings.

In remembrance of Miriam E. Pitt, we celebrate the generous spirit she infused into our lives—a reminder that love, loyalty, and kindness are the true measures of a life well-lived.

Shirley Ann Summers
August 18, 1950 – March 5, 2026

Shirley Ann SummersShirley Ann Summers, born August 18, 1950, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026, at the age of 75, surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley lived a vibrant and full life, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion to her family. She was the loving wife of Benny for 41 years; a proud mother to Angela, Bryan, and Allison; a cherished grandmother of six; and a delighted great-grandmother of one.

If you were fortunate enough to meet Shirley, you walked away with happiness in your heart, a smile on your face, and the feeling that you had just met a friend for life. She was vibrant, hardworking, and deeply devoted to the people she loved. Shirley always made sure everyone else’s needs were met before her own. She took great pride in keeping an immaculate home and believed in doing things the right way. She was strong-willed and didn’t take anyone’s nonsense, but her heart was as big as her personality.

For 27 years, Shirley worked at Ingersoll-Rand, where her dedication and strong work ethic reflected the same commitment she showed in every part of her life. Working alongside her sister and son, it wasn’t just a job—it was a place that felt like home.

Shirley was adventurous, full of laughter, and a true spitfire who embraced every moment of life. She raised her children to be responsible and caring adults who value family just as much as she did. Shirley was endlessly proud of them and loved them unconditionally. One thing you could always count on—Shirley would be there. She never missed a game her children or grandchildren played, always cheering them on from the sidelines with pride and joy.
Family time was at the center of Shirley’s life. She loved traveling and especially treasured holidays spent surrounded by family. All of the grandkids loved Shirley’s famous hashbrown casserole. They loved it so much that she always made a double batch—and you could be sure there wouldn’t be a single morsel left.

After dinner was cleaned up, it was common to find Shirley gathered around the table with her husband, her sisters, and extended family playing a game of Rook. Those games often lasted for hours and became a cherished family tradition she always looked forward to.

As the oldest of three daughters, Shirley never grew tired of spending time with her sisters. Family vacations and dinners after church were cherished routines that she rarely missed and deeply valued. Shirley was also a devoted member of Cherry Mound Baptist Church, where she found great joy in singing hymns and praising the Lord alongside her church family.

Her love for her family was unquestionable. Even during life’s toughest moments, Shirley carried herself with grace and a smile that rarely faded.

A take-charge kind of woman, Shirley lived life fully and on her own terms. Some of her happiest moments were spent sitting on the back porch with family and friends, enjoying a cold beverage, reminiscing about the days of old, and making new memories in the moment.

Shirley is survived by her children and their spouses, Angela and Paul Goff, Bryan and Raquel Summers, and Allison Biggs and David Griffith; her sisters, Carolyn Leftwich and Sheila White; her grandchildren, Daulton Biggs and his wife, Raegan, Kaiden Biggs, Easton Biggs, Bradley Goff, Dylan Goff, and Gage Summers; and her great-grandchild, Dutton Biggs.
Shirley’s warmth, strength, laughter, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Though she may no longer be sitting at the table for a long game of Rook or relaxing on the back porch with family and friends, her presence will always be felt in those moments. Every shared meal, every family gathering, and every burst of laughter will carry a piece of Shirley with it. The traditions she created and the love she poured into her family will continue for generations, just the way she would have wanted.

Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in White House, Tennessee.
Visitation will be held at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House, Tennessee, on Monday, March 9, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Cherry Mound Baptist Church in Cottontown, Tennessee. Funeral services will immediately follow the Tuesday visitation at the church at 12 p.m.

Ed Foster
May 6, 1947 – March 9, 2026

Ed FosterEdward Prince Foster was born May 6th, 1947 and passed away March 9th, 2026. Ed grew up in Columbia, TN and ultimately made his home on Green Acres Road in Joelton, TN. Ed was particularly proud of completing his BA in Marketing at MTSU where he was a member of the Rifle Team all 4 years and where he completed his ROTC service. Ed then served in the US Army as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army.

Ed valued a good day’s work, whether it was with his flowers, in his garden, or at his employment with Unarco for 18 years. Ed had many passions over the duration of his life and when he cared about something he gave his full attention. This was always first and, foremost, his two sons: Brian and Keith, and his Linda. Ed loved his Linda. Ed enjoyed hunting across the US. Most who spent time with Ed will recall that he loved baseball; games, cards, and memorabilia. One of his favorite stories to tell was of a game between the Chicago White Sox and the Milwaukee Brewers where he missed a home run by Bo Jackson taking a young Keith to the bathroom in the early 1990s. Even in recent years he would randomly exclaim “Who goes to the bathroom when Bo Jackson is up to bat?!” Ed enjoyed his daily cigar from his cigar collection and birdwatching from his place on the porch. In his later life Ed committed many hours fixing broken toys and clocks for the Joelton Hope Center. He also became a huge University of Alabama football fan, to some degree to lovingly harass his daughter-in-law.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents Barnett and Ella Rhea Foster and his uncle and aunt; Dolphus and Ann Foster. Ed is survived by special friends John and Linda Adamson and Pat Biggs, his sons Brian and Keith (Alison) Foster; his grandchildren Caitlin and Collin Foster; and his devoted wife of 47 years, Linda (Murphey) Foster.

A visitation will be held at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View on Friday, March 13th, from 3:00PM to 7:00PM. A private graveside service is to follow. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

If so desired, memorial contributions may be made in Ed Foster’s name to the Joelton Hope Center or Cheatham County Master Gardeners.
