A Winning Streak, Springfield’s Parks & Rec Dept Continues To Be Recognized

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The City of Springfield Parks and Recreation Department is coming home with another award! The TRPA ( Tennessee Recreation and Parks Association) has awarded the Park’s Department a Four Star Excellence award.

The yearly TRPA ( Tennessee Recreation Parks Association) took place November 14-17 in the Mountains of Gatlinburg. Award night was Wednesday night and the City of Springfield Parks Department was once again recognized for outstanding work. The category was New Projects under $500,000 and the brand new Sand Volleyball Courts located at Travis Price Park were named the winner.

“What separates our Sand Courts from others is two things,” said Springfield Parks Director Terry Martin. “ONE, the drainage under the courts allows for play to happen even after a rain storm, and TWO, the beautiful white sand. The parks staff worked hard helping Contractor Matthew Powell with the project and obviously the hard work paid off. I have said it before and will say it again, Best Staff Ever!”

Just weeks ago Martin’s team (pictured below) won Tennessee’s Municipal Achievement Award for excellence in parks and recreation. The award is no small feat considering there are 348 cities in the state of Tennessee. FULL STORY HERE 3-minute read
