Obituary for Joyce Slate

Joyce Jones Slate, age 79, of Springfield, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021 at NorthCrest Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 11am in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier with Brother Johnny Trail officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Cemetery with James Slate, Aaron Slate, Ethan Slate, James Mixon, Brian Jones and Jody Hallman serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 from 3-8pm and again on Wednesday from 9am until the hour of service at 11am.

Mrs. Slate was born April 13, 1942 in Greenbrier, TN to the late Albert L. and Dorothy Virginia Ogg Jones. She was a homemaker and member of the Hillcrest Church of Christ. She loved her family, going to church and her church family. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, birdwatching, crossword puzzles and word search puzzles.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Slate is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Slate; her brother, Bobby Lee Jones, her sister-in-law, Donna Jones, and her brother-in-law, Joe Hallman.

(Brenda) Jones of Springfield and Emily Sue Hallman of Adairville, KY; special niece, Kandy Foriest of Greenbrier; grandchildren, James (MacKenna) Slate, Aaron (Savannah) Slate, Nicole (James) Mixon and Ethan Slate; and great-grandchildren, McKinley Slate, Mattie Slate and Walker Slate.

Obituary for Ralph Orison Rowe, Jr.

Philippians 1:3

Ralph Orison Rowe, Jr., age 75, of Springfield, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021 at his home. At his request Mr. Rowe’s remains will be cremated and no services planned at this time.

He was born in Gadsden, AL on December 25, 1945 to the late Ralph Orison and Edna Early Rowe, Sr. He was a minister serving in several churches across different states but East Gadsden Presbyterian Church was his home church. He also served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was stationed at the White House as a member of the Honor Guard. He worked for the State of Alabama as a Water Safety Officer. He loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles and enjoyed music.

floral squareHe is survived by his wife, Brenda Milam Rowe of Springfield; brother, Chris (Deborah) Rowe of Cullman, AL; sister, Renee (Jim) Franklin of Rainbow City, AL and sister-in-law, Nancy Milam of Springfield. Mr. Rowe is also survived by his beloved Pomeranian, Abigail, affectionately known as “Abbie” and several loving nieces and nephews.

Obituary for Darren Charles Coleman

Darren Charles Coleman, 56, of Springfield, passed from this life on Thursday July 29, 2021, at St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted on Sunday August 8th at 3:00 p.m. at the Bethlehem Baptist Church with Bob Carroll and Josh Culver officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Burke, David Delius, Tommy Curtis, Ron Hardin, Scott Carroll, Joe Armstrong, Ricky Head, Dallas Towe and Tom James. Following the service, his cremains will be buried in the Bethlehem Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday August 7th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home and on Sunday August 8th from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Darren was born June 14, 1965, in Davidson County. He worked for PDM as a Sales and Project manager. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where he had played the drums on the Praise and Worship team. Darren was a sports enthusiast and especially loved the Predators, the Titans, Nascar, and fishing. He loved being a dad, working in the yard, and always enjoyed the challenge of fixing and repairing anything that he thought needed it.

Darren leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 30 years: Shelley Tillery Coleman of Springfield, his daughter: Rebekah Coleman of Springfield, his parents: Bill and Judy Coleman of Hendersonville, his sister and brother-in-law: Stacy and Jeff Boyd of Hendersonville, his nieces: Whitney and Blakely Whited, his mother-in-law: Ann floral squareTillery of Greenbrier, his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Debbie Bush of Clarksville, Christi and David Delius of Springfield, and Taryne and Mike Burke of Nolensville.

Thomas Edward Holman, 96, of Springfield, TN, died Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at NorthCrest Heath.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at South Haven Baptist Church with Dr. Frank Gagliano and Brother Bob Cook officiating. Burial followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Wayne Holman, Don Bruce Gray, Jerry Fuqua, Paul Love, Orville Gilley, Clifford Gregory will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were George Jankowski and Paul Daufen. The family received friends at South Haven Baptist Church from 8:00 a.m. until service at 10:00 a.m.

Mr. Holman was born on May 21, 1925, to the late Thomas Ewing and Grace Carlisle Holman. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Lorene Gray Holman, and sister, Irene Holman Powell. Mr. Holman was a veteran of the United States Army. He loved God and his family. Mr. Holman enjoyed visiting friends, going to church, riding horses, his motorcycle, and farming.

Obituary for Melaine Dawn Appleton

Melaine Dawn Appleton, 55, of Springfield, passed from this life on Tuesday July 27, 2021, at NHC Healthcare in Springfield.

Funeral services were conducted Friday July 30th at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Palestine Cemetery with Kris Appleton, Randy Appleton, Justin Guadina, Wallace Moulton, Michael Elmore, and Dustin Appleton serving as pallbearers. Brandy Appleton Guadina will serve as an honorary pallbearer. The family received friends on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Melaine was born August 3, 1965, in Springfield to the late Granville Lee and Alberta Braswell Appleton. She was a graduate of Springfield High School Class of 1983 and was the Valedictorian of her class from Branell College. Melaine worked in management and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed collecting movies and football cards, listening to music, and was a big Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Vol’s fan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Jackie Appleton, by her sisters: Judy Appleton, Sue Frye, and Doris Harper, and by her Yorkie: Sassy. Melaine is survived by floral squareher son: Kristopher (Courtney Dusek) Appleton of Springfield, by her brother: Randy (Lisa) Appleton of Springfield, and by her sister: Paulette Moulton.

Nellie Rawls, age 92 of Springfield, Tennessee, died Tuesday July 27, 2021, at the home of her daughter, Sandy Carney.

Funeral services were held at 11 am on Friday July 30, 2021, at the Rock Springs Baptist Church with Brother Kelly LeBlanc and Chaplain Sherri Hill officiating. Burial followed in the Rock Springs Cemetery with Kendall Carney, Jeff Hodge, Blaine Swieder, Clint Mayo, Trey Parks, Dylan Parks, Timmy Casteel, Brody Carney, and Colton Mayo serving as pallbearers. The family received friends at the Robertson County Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-8 pm and again on Friday from 9-11 am at Rock Springs Baptist Church.

Mrs. Rawls was born May 28, 1929, in Eureka, KS to the late Floyd Reynolds Sr and Margaret Proctor Reynolds. Her husband, Richard Rawls, son, John Smith, brothers, Richard Reynolds and Bill Reynolds and sisters, Edna Pauline Reynolds, Pat Slagle and Pamela Parks also preceded her in death. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. Nellie loved to read the Bible and witness to others. She had a fondness for word search puzzles, crocheting, sewing, and gardening.

Roger Dale Hutton, age 71 of Dickson, TN passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson.

(Updated Service) A Celebration of Life Service will be held 6pm, Friday, August 6th at Austin & Bell Funeral Home Springfield. The family will receive friends 4pm until time of service on Friday at the funeral home.

Roger was born in Springfield, TN on January 5, 1950 to the late Charles Oscar and Nora Frances Woody Hutton. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Scott Hutton and a sister, Anita A. Hutton.

He loved the Lord and his family very much and enjoyed music, singing and helping others and he was a Veteran of the US Navy.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Pamela Renea Watts Hutton; sons, Robert Hutton of Salt Lake City, UT, Brandon (Sandra) floral squareHutton of Dickson, TN; brothers, Charles (Brenda) Hutton of Springfield, TN, Spencer Hutton of Springfield, TN; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Martha was born on April 25, 1934 in Robertson County, Tennessee to the late James Marshall and Nannie Mae Williams Leek. She was a retired bookkeeper for Conwood Tobacco Company and a member of Woodland Street United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and loved working in her Iris bed. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ralph (1986); grandson, Nathan Ralph; sisters, Jewel Jakes and Nellie Simpkins; brother, James Leek.

Martha is survived by her son, Bob Ralph of Adams, Tennessee; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Richard Johnson of Madison, Alabama; sister, Mary Bass of Florida; grandchildren, Allen Ralph of Nashville and Ethan and wife Morgan Ralph of Springfield; great-grandchildren, Hadley and Harrison Ralph.

Jackie Ray Dobbs, age 70, of Hendersonville, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2020.

He was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Antioch. He had a wonderful sense of humor and he loved his family very much. He loved hard and he loved to be loved, and he was in love with music. He had an amazing voice that the Choir of Angels is now honored with.

Jackie was preceded in death by his father, Paul Thomas Dobbs; his mother, Ruby Fuqua Dobbs; and sister, Judy Dobbs Latimer. He is survived by his wife of 10½ years, Suzanne O. Dobbs; daughters, Shellee (Terry) Catignani, Leslie (Steven ) Burrow and stepdaughter, Audrey (Bryan) Phalen; stepson, Mark Roberts; sisters, Janice Cleveland of Hendersonville and Joyce Brigham of McMinnville; brother, Jerry Dobbs of Midway, Georgia; grandchildren, Claire, Andrew (Drew) and Carmen Catignani, Makenzie, Mazie and Baylor Burrow, Zoe and Parker Phalen.

Frank North Wilson, age 75 of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021 at his home.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Wilson was born on June 18,1946 in Polk County, North Carolina to the late Regionald & Rose Wilcox Wilson. He was retired as a race car fabricator. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in the Vietnam War. Frank loved to parachute jump and was a master parachute rigger. He also built his own planes and loved to fly them. He was a kickboxer, a master in Kung Fu & Karate, a SCCA race car driver and a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Wilson was very interested in learning and reading about new ideas and cultures and never had an idle moment.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Wendi Wilson; and a brother, Reggie Wilson.

Obituary for Walter Joseph Remo

“Goober”-Age 86 of Cross Plains, TN went home to be with the Lord Friday, July 30, 2021 at his home. He was born January 3, 1935 in Russelton, PA to Wassel & Margaret Remo. He worked as a master carpenter. His big dream was to build his own home, which he completed in his 60’s. He was a hard working man, whose only hobby was his family. He was previously employed by John Rochford in Nashville, TN. He was credited with building the smallest tugboat on the Ohio River. It was the most powerful one built for it’s size and was named for him.

He accepted Jesus as his Savior in January and was baptized on July 18th at Orlinda Baptist Church, where he had been attending.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 children, Coby Remo and an unborn infant. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Remo, Cross Plains, TN; sons, Walter Joseph Remo, Jr., Pittsburgh, PA, Joseph Walter Remo (Suzanne), Cottontown, TN and Michael Jason Remo (Tiffney) Hendersonville, TN; daughters, Peggy LaScola, Pittsburgh, PA and Jennifer Walsh, Columbia, KY; sister, Dorothy Calderaro, Cross Plains, TN; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.

She was born in Nashville, TN on May 9, 1933 to the late Arthur and Effie Neal Pemerton. She was also preceded in death by husband, Paul Eugene Hupp and seven brothers.

She attended Bellshire Assembly of God Church. She worked as a Seamstress for Bolen Leather in Springfield. She loved the Lord and taught Sunday School for years and read her Bible faithfully. She floral squareloved her family and enjoyed cooking and working in her yard.

Age 69 of Old Hickory, formerly of White House, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021 at The Residence of Alive Hospice. She was born May 6, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan to Henry and Aline Keith Brown. She worked as a bookkeeper for AAA Paving Company before her retirement She collected antiques and enjoyed swapping, selling and buying antiques with friends. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters, Darlene, Peggy Jean and Kathleen; 1 brother, Billy. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bruce Smith, Old Hickory, TN; son, Tim (Michelle) Smith, White House, TN; step-daughter, Tammy Lee (Joey) Braswell, Nashville, TN; brother, Jimmy (Melissa) Brown; sister, Wanda Driver, both of Old Hickory, TN; 3 grandchildren, Addison, Allie and Brent.

Mrs. Simpson was born on November 23rd, 1934 in Cookeville, Tennessee to the late Flem and Estelle Garrett. She was a retired Accounting Clerk. She enjoyed playing cards, most especially Rook. She was a former member of Sycamore Chapel Church of Christ.

Charles “Randy” Smith, age 69 of Whites Creek, Tennessee, died Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at his home.

Mr. Smith was born on January 21, 1952, to Cora Lee Bateman Smith and the late Herman Mark Smith. He was retired after 45 years as a master plumber having worked with several plumbing companies. After retirement he enjoyed raising black angus cows.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his brother, Fred Smith; and sister, Betty Holzkamper.

Oliver Quinton Biggadike, age 45, of White House, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a Paramedic with Sumner County EMS. Prior to that he was a journalist with Bloomberg News in Singapore, Tokyo and New York and had also been with Dow Jones in Frankfurt, Germany.

Obituary for SSG Thomas James Johnson

SSG Thomas James Johnson, age 31 of Watertown, New York, formerly of Joelton, Tennessee died Monday, July 19, 2021 at his residence.

Funeral services will be conducted at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View at 11:30AM on Thursday, August 5. Burial will follow at 2:00PM in Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Nashville with full military honors.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 5, from 9:00AM until the hour of service at 11:30AM.

Thomas was born on May 28th, 1990 to James Francis, II and Cynthia Ann Shimko Johnson. He was actively serving in the U.S. Army. He was very patriotic and his childhood dream was to become a soldier. He became a senior rated Jumpmaster who loved everything Airborne. One of his proudest moments was when his father pinned his jump wings on him. He completed one tour to Afghanistan and two additional tours to the Middle East. His duty stations included Germany, Fort Bragg, JBER Alaska and Fort Drum. Thomas always had a love for history and was working on a degree in Military History. He loved his Tennessee Titans, Harry Potter, building Legos, and being on his boat. Thomas enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and his fur babies.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Squire and Wilma Johnson; and his maternal grandmother, Alice Shimko.

Karl Thurmond Brown Sr., age 82 of Springfield, Tennessee, died Saturday July 24, 2021, at the Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee.

Funeral services were held at 11 am on Tuesday July 27, 2021, in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Michael Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Elmwood Cemetery with Karl T. Brown Jr, Mark Andrew Brown, Corey Mayo, Daniel Thacker, Robert Brown II and Dawson Watts serving as pallbearers. Aaron Foster and Matthew Bogle served as honorary pallbearers.

Karl T. was born July 14,1939 in Springfield to the late James Porter Brown Jr, and Iva Belle King Brown. His son, Robert Barry Brown, brothers, John Brown and Jerry Lee Brown and sister, Peggy Ruth Morris also preceded him in death. He was a lifelong member of North Springfield Baptist Church, a veteran of the United States Navy serving as a Seabee. He was a retired truck driver and was a member of Teamster Local 89.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Lynda Hunter Brown, sons and daughters-in-law, Karl T. and Lisa Brown Jr., Mark Andrew and Lise Brown, daughters, Theresa Rosemary Foster and Kara Lynn floral squareBrown Watts, brother and sister-in-law, James Arthur and Sue Brown, sister and brother-in-law, Nancye Lynn and Gisbert Jaekel, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Obituary for Jennie McElyea

Jennie McElyea, age 79 of Ridgetop, Tennessee, died Friday July 23, 2021, at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Graveside services were held at 2 pm on Tuesday July 27, 2021, in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Pastor Scott Dobbins officiating. The family received friends at the Robertson County Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11 am until 1:30 pm.

Mrs. McElyea was born October 10, 1941 in Port Sanilac, MI to the late Bill Gustin and Allegra Lance Gustin. A grandchild, Cory McCormack also preceded her in death. She was a member of Bellshire Assembly of God and was retired from IBM. Jennie had the heart of a true caregiver. She enjoyed reading and collecting antiques, particularly items made of copper.

Marvenell Bowen Atwood, age 61, of Cedar Hill, Tennessee died Thursday, July 22, 2021 at her home.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 26, 2021 in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Ian Atwood, Sabin Atwood, Bryon Trice, Tristian Trice, Jimmy Kendrick, Travis Winchester, and Dirk Card serving as Pallbearers. The Family received friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 am until the hour of service at 2:00 PM.

Mrs. Atwood was born on September 2, 1959 in Rutherford County, Tennessee to John Dryden Bowen and the late Marveline Terry Bowen. Marvenell was a veteran in the United States Navy. She enjoyed going to church, loved to read especially her bible, cross stitching, and spending time with her family.

Obituary for Timothy Nicholas “Tim” Donkin

Timothy Nicholas “Tim” Donkin, 58, of Springfield, passed from this life, at his home, on Wednesday July 21, 2021, exactly one year from the date he was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday July 25th at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Brother Marvin Crouch officiating. The family received friends on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Tim was born September 4, 1962, in Monterey Park, California. He was a graduate of Springfield High School Class of 1980. Tim was the owner and operator of Donkin Auto Repair and he attended Adams Church of Christ. He loved going to Classic Car shows and was always willing to help anyone in any way he could. His life has evolved around his family and spending time with them. He loved traveling to Gatlinburg and to the beach. Tim always put his wife, Kerrie, as his number one priority. He was so proud of his children, and his life was made complete with his two precious granddaughters. Tim was preceded in death by his father: James “Jim” Donkin and by his brother: Jim Donkin.

Tim leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 32 years, Kerrie Crabtree Donkin of Springfield, by his daughter and son-in-law: Laura and Zach Bugg of Springfield, by his son: Landon Donkin of Springfield, by his granddaughters: Emmerson Claire and Elleigh Nicholas Bugg both of Springfield, by his mother: Claudette Martin of Springfield, by his brothers: Tom (Kathy) Donkin of Nashville, John (Fay) Donkin of Springfield, and Bill Donkin of Springfield, by his sisters: Cathy (Randy) All of Las Vegas, NV, and Cindi (Charles) Stafford of North Carolina, and by his in-laws: Larry and Elaine Crabtree of Springfield.

Obituary for Ronald Lee Simmons

Ronald Lee Simmons, age 70, of Springfield, Tennessee died Tuesday July 20, 2021 at his home.

Funeral services were held at 3 pm on Friday July 23, 2021 in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Simmons Family Cemetery in Springfield. Adam Blach, Brandon Simmons, Nolan Simmons, Brian Eatherly, Ryan Simmons and David Simmons will serve as pallbearers. Jerry Simmons, Pat Bailey, Jax Simmons and James Richards served as honorary pallbearers. The family received friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-8 pm and again on Friday from 10 am until the hour of service at 3 pm.

Mr. Simmons was born November 30, 1950, in Robertson County, Tennessee to the late Lee Guthrie Simmons and Lillian Barbara Keith Simmons. Ronald loved drag racing. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and retired from Delight Products in Springfield where he worked for 43 years and was known to be able to perform most all the tasks that could be done there.

Obituary for Donald Roberts “Twin”

Donald Roberts was born on October 31, 1960, in Robertson County, Tennessee to the late Paul and Mary Elizabeth Wells Roberts. On Tuesday, July 20, 2021 his soul returned back to the Creator. In the scripture, we remember the writings of Paul, found in 2 Corinthians 5:8, which promises us that “to be absent from the boy is to be present with the Lord.” We will miss his humorous ways of bringing life to the many people he met.

He grew up in Robertson County and attended Robertson County School System. Donald was known in the community as “Twin” and worked in the food service industry with several restaurants. Donald never met any strangers and once you met him you would never forget him. He professed hope in Christ at Alive Hospice.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings: Danny, Phyllis, Michael, Vicki, Ronald, Travis, Lynn and nephew, Willie Dowlen, Jr. (JR).

Bowen Walter “Bo” Hinkle, Jr. age 69 of Hendersonville, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021. He was a loving and caring person who never met a stranger. Bo had a tremendous sense of humor. He loved listening to Vern Gosdin and watching old Westerns over and over again. He loved his grandbabies and loved letting them do whatever their parents said no to. He loved Bud Light and begging for Bloody Mary’s. He loved Bull Dozers and cowboy boots.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Gail Hinkle; parents, Bowen and Gert Hinkle; brothers, Jerry and Terry Hinkle and his sister Judy Hancock. Amanda “Mandy” LeAnne Long, age 39, of Greenbrier, died on July 24, 2021 at her home. Amanda was born on August 26, 1981 in Nashville, Tennessee to Paul, Jr. and Phyllis Evans Long. She was a stay at home mom and loved her family, especially her daughter, Kimbree. Through her health issues she was a true fighter but had a tender heart. She was of Baptist faith and attended Grace Baptist Church in Springfield.

Funeral services were conducted at 12:00 noon on Monday, July 26, 2021 at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield. Burial followed in the Springfield Memorial Gardens near her father. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00pm – 8:00pm and again on Monday from 10:00am until the time of service at 12:00 noon. Ron Henderson, Jason Henderson, Johnny (Bubba) Pentecost, Chris Long, J.R. Coats, and Wade Canler served as pallbearers.

Age 76 of Cross Plains went home to be with the Lord Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Ivy Crest Assisted Living in Pulaski, TN. He was born November 1, 1944 in Ardmore, Alabama to James David & Sarah Hobbs McNeese. He worked for Dupont until his retirement. Mr. McNeese enjoyed listening to gospel music and was of the Pentecostal faith. He loved fishing, metal detecting, coin collecting, watching sports and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed lending a helping hand to others every time that he could.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Teri Groezinger. He is survived by his wife, Brenda McNeese, Cross Plains, TN; daughter, Mitzi (Don) Young, Antioch, TN; grandson, Justin (Kaitlin) Young, Pulaski, TN; sisters, Julia (David) Eidson, White House, TN, Sheila (Jimmy) Coleman, Clarksville, TN and Patsy (Scott) Hoback, Joelton, TN; great-granddaughter, Elaina.

Timothy Lynn Bidwell, age 37 of Greenbrier passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021 in Hendersonville.

Tim was born in Madison, TN on August 16, 1983 to Ted Bidwell and Patricia Fitzpatrick Allen. He was preceded in death by step-mother, Denise Lynn Bidwell.

He was a flooring installer and finisher. He loved his daughter Alayna very much and enjoyed his job.

Obituary for Horace Leslie Harper

Horace Leslie Harper died peacefully July 20, 2021 after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Horace was born April 11, 1940 in Eagleville, TN to Doris L. and Beulah Vaughn Harper.
He graduated from East High School in 1958 and never missed a day of school. Horace attended Belmont College and the University of Tennessee and graduated with an Accounting degree. During his long career, he worked as a Certified Public Accountant and he also worked in the hospitality industry for many years.

Horace was also very athletic and played in several basketball leagues and was on a church bowling league. His love of sports translated into him coaching Little League basketball, baseball and soccer teams in which his beloved son played.

Horace was preceded in death by his father, Doris and mother, Beulah, and his younger brother, Thomas S. Harper.

Horace is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Janet Sue and his three children, Lynn (Roger) Stoll, Christi (Brandon) Brown and George (Stephanie) Harper and granddaughters Jessica and Hadlea Harper, Elizabeth and grandson Edwin Stoll and two step-grandchildren.

SaraLou “Sally” Stokes, age 74 of Pleasant View, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at her home.

Sally was born on March 31, 1947 in Clearfield, Pennsylvania to the late Leroy Hamilton & Mary Irene Cederholm Sawyer. She retired with over 20 years as a bookkeeper for numerous car dealerships and other companies. After retirement she was a loving caregiver to her mother. Sally loved to decorate for Halloween and Christmas. She loved her figurines, feeding the hummingbirds and especially her beloved dog, CC. She was a Christian.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Thomas E. McGrath,Jr.; brothers, Kenneth Sawyer and Donald Sawyer.

Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Mike Stokes; daughter, Susan (David) Beard; granddaughter, Taegen Beard; and her floral squarebeloved dog, CC.

Sally’s remains were cremated and no services are planned at this time.
