Obituary for Curtis E. “Curt” Hall

Curtis E. “Curt” Hall, 79, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday August 28, 2021, at NorthCrest Health.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday September 4th at 12 noon in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Dave Rose, II, Lunden Ruhstaller, Donnie Payne, Elijah Sherrod, Doug Heighton, and Alex Heighton serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Hall was born August 20, 1942, in Canton, OH to the late Henry and Ruby Bollinger Hall. He was a retired machinist from Unarco, a member of North Springfield Baptist Church, and a member of the Board of Directors at Byrum Porter Senior Center in Orlinda. Mr. Hall enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing cards, and his favorite hobby was getting in the car with his wife and driving anywhere and everywhere they wanted to go. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Robert C. Hall, by his grandson: Kenneth Schutt, Jr., by his son-in-law: Troy Parks, and by his siblings: Ralph Hall, Henry Hall, Jr., and Connie Hall.

floral squareMr. Hall is survived by his wife of 59 years: Helen Blackburn Hall of Springfield, by his daughters and son-in-law; Shelley and Donnie Payne of Springfield, Tracy Parks of Springfield, by his brothers and sisters-in-law: Carl and Linda Hall of Alliance, OH, Kenny and Cheryl Hall of Louisville, OH, by his sister: Charlotte Plympton of Springfield, and by his 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Obituary for Sharon Lynne Ellis Norrod

Sharon Lynne Ellis Norrod, 54, of Springfield, passed from this life on Saturday August 28, 2021, at NorthCrest Health.

Celebration of life services will be conducted Thursday September 2nd at 6:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Lynne was born December 29, 1966, in Springfield to Robert Bell Ellis and the late Carolyn Lyons Ellis. She was a graduate of Springfield High School Class of 1985, was a private caregiver, and was a member of Head’s Free Will Baptist Church. Lynne loved watching sports, reading, traveling to Myrtle Beach and Gatlinburg with her family, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Obituary for Glen Dorris, Jr.

The Good Lord called Glen Dorris, Jr., age 71 of Greenbrier, formerly of Nashville, home on Sunday, August 29, 2021 to be with his Mom, Dorothy Kelso Dorris; his Dad, Glen Dorris, Sr.; and his brother, Gary Dorris, all of whom preceded him in death. Glen’s remains will be cremated and no public service is planned at this time.

Glen was a man of few words but many deeds. As an Eagle Scout he learned early the meaning of doing good and helping others but doing it quietly without fanfare.

After 17 years as a manager with Kroger and 20 years with Pepsi, being a doer, Glen tried his hand at mechanics, carpentry, concrete, landscaping, electrical, cooking, and he was good at all. He wasn’t all work though. He loved fishing, camping, sports, his koi pond, bird watching, growing wildflowers, driving his tractor, and reading.

Glen will be missed not only by his wife of 33 years, Linda Bowie Dorris of Greenbrier, by his two daughters, Olivia (Scott Smith) Dorris and Mende (Jason) Pattee, both of Nashville. His 2 floral squaregranddaughters, Lana Pattee and Elise Pattee, will especially miss spending time with their Poppee. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Wilma “Jean” Christian Pace, age 94 of Greenbrier, passed away Sunday, August 29th, 2021 at The Waters of Robertson in Springfield, TN.

Funeral Services will be at 2 PM on Saturday, September 4th at Austin & Bell Funeral Home Greenbrier. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 10 AM until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wilma was a housewife and a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ.

She was born in Old Hickory, TN on July 6, 1927 to the late Samuel Clyde and Willie Mae Clark Christian. She was also preceded in death by husband, Roy Kenneth Pace; son, James Michael Pace; granddaughter, Megan Williams and sister, Mary Frances Ellis.

Obituary for William Scott Rappuhn

Age 57 of White House passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Sumner Regional Medical Center. (News Covergae)

He was born June 1, 1964 in Nashville, TN to Gordon & Ann Nicollet Rappuhn. Coach Rappuhn was a 34 year veteran of education, teaching and coaching, with the past 28 years in Sumner County at White House and Beech High Schools. He was an English teacher, the head tennis coach for boys and girls teams, and served as the faculty advisor for The Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter of White House High School. He also served as a girls basketball assistant coach previously in his teaching career. He was a husband, father and community servant to White House and to everyone who knew him. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Thea Rappuhn; son, Jaxon Rappuhn; daughter, Danielle Rappuhn, all of White House, TN; brothers, Ed (Terry) Rappuhn, Jeff (Charlotte) Rappuhn and Alex Rappuhn, all of floral squareNashville, TN and Joe Lancaster, Hendersonville, TN.

Mrs. Smith was born in Springfield, TN on October 8, 1941 to the late John Henry and Tiny Frey Biggs. She loved her family very much and enjoyed flowers.

Emerson Lee Morris, Jr. age 90, of Springfield, Tennessee, died Saturday, at NHC Healthcare in Springfield.

Mr. Morris was born on December 6, 1930, in Robertson County to the late Emerson Lee and Bessie Lee Morris, Sr. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. Mr. Morris was a member of Barren Plains Baptist church and worked as a shipping and receiving clerk for Delight Products. He loved to fish so much, that he built his own fishing boat from blueprints. He also enjoyed reading books especially westerns, and to paint oil paintings.

Jean Groves Keith, 89, of Springfield, passed from this life on Friday August 27, 2021, at her home.

Graveside services will be conducted Monday August 30th at 11:00 a.m. in the Owens Chapel Cemetery with Reverend Michael Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside service on Monday.

Mrs. Keith was born August 8, 1932, in Springfield to the late James Edwin and Georgia Vera Traughber Groves. She was graduate of East Robertson High School Class of 1950. Mrs. Keith was the Secretary/Treasurer and co-owner of Keith Circle Steel. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and the Youngville FCE Club. Mrs. Keith enjoyed crafts, sewing, crocheting, and watching sports, especially the Tennessee Titans and the Tennessee Vols. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: James Groves, Harold Clayton Groves, Pauline Johnson, Edna Yates, Dot Fuqua, and Ann Sage.

Obituary for Thomas Harold Draughon

Thomas Harold Draughon, age 86, of Springfield, Tennessee, died Saturday August 21, 2021, at North Crest Health in Springfield.

Private entombment services with military honors were held on Thursday August 26, 2021 in the Springfield Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Bradley Martin, Steven Martin, Jeremiah Greer, Michael Greer, Dennis Davis, Paul Dorris and Mike Dorris serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Draughon was born January 31, 1935, in Springfield, TN to the late Rayburn and Louise Farmer Draughon. His brothers, Roy Draughon, Bill Draughon and Robert Draughon also preceded him in death. He was retired from the United States Air Force after originally serving in the United States Marine Corp. Mr. Draughon loved shooting, fishing, gardening and traveling.

Obituary for Beverly Jo Walker

Beverly Jo Walker entered this earthly life on November 2, 1956 to the late Porter Joseph Dowlen and Beatrice Marie Dowlen. God took her hand and led her to her Heavenly Home with Him on August 24, 2021. She had struggled with her health for years. She fought a long hard battle, but God knew it was time for her to get that well deserved rest that she has been needing.

Beverly was a loving and devoted mother who would have done anything for her children. She was a wonderful granny who doted over her grand-children and great-grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family, pranking people on the phone and she really enjoyed watching Tik Tok videos.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Chad Lamont Dowlen; her siblings, Peggy Dowlen, Betty Green, Ann Green, Cecil Dowlen, Michael Dowlen, and Billy Dowlen; niece, Victoria Dowlen; nephews, Gregory and Bruce Dowlen.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Catina Dowlen of Columbus, GA and Shantel (Marcus) Brewer of Springfield, TN; son, Starsky Mitchell of Springfield, TN; eight loving grandchildren, K’neshia, Tremaine, Keyon, KeArrah, Ke’Ondra, Lil Starsky, Octavius, and D’Neisha; seven great -grandchildren; sisters, Linda floral squareGail Dowlen, Deborah Lynette Johnson, Sylvia Dowlen and Mary Helen Hicks; brother, Stanley Dowlen; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Age 83 passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021 at The Residence of Alive Hospice. He was born January 30, 1938 in Red Boiling Springs, TN to Osia & Ruby Edith Coons McCarter. He worked as a mechanic for Peterbilt and retired February 28, 2001, after 17 years of service. He was an avid NASCAR fan. When he was younger, he enjoyed drag racing. He loved gardening, animals and spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Esther McCarter; son, Rickey McCarter; brother, Raymond McCarter; sister, Doris Dorris. He is survived by his son, David McCarter, White House, TN; daughter, Sharon (Dale) Martin, Macon, GA; brother, Jack (Audrey) McCarter, Mount Juliet, TN; sister, Dixie Morgan, Greenbrier, TN; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.

Obituary for Helen L. Woodard

Helen L. Smith Woodard was born on February 14, 1932, in Springfield, Robertson County, Tennessee to the late Clyde Willie Smith and Emma May Darden Smith. On Friday, August 20, 2021,

God called for another musician to join the heavenly choir. Helen Woodard answered His call.

She attended Bransford High School in Springfield, Tennessee.
At an early age she united with Bigbee Chapel Methodist Church and later united with St. James Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully served as pianist for forty-eight years. She was president of the Mothers’ Board and Superintendent of Sunday School. She loved worshiping and was very dedicated in performing her duties in the church. She was a member of the Ambassadors for Christ and Spiritual Twelve Gospel Group. She also played the piano for functions at the Springfield Senior Citizens Center.

She was united in holy matrimony to John Woodard in 1984. “Choppy,” as she was affectionately called by family, specialized in cooking and baking. A few of her special dishes were, strawberry cake, carrot cake, squash casserole, and homemade slaw; however, anything she cooked was always delicious.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Leon Huskey and Donald Ray Huskey; two brothers, Clyde “Bud” Smith and Arthur “Chico” Thomas.

Left to forever cherish her precious memories are husband, John Woodard, seven grandchildren: Shelly (Robert) Herrera, Lawton, OK; Keifus (Becky) Malone, Springfield, TN; Butch (Kristy) Huskey, Lawton, OK; Tracie Leavell, Springfield, TN; Michael Miller, Deena Charity both of Lawton, OK; Dontez L. Huskey, Springfield, TN; eleven great-grandchildren: Victoria Herrera, William “Jesse” Herrera, Quintessa Fluellen, Wilson Charity, Xander Charity, Kennedy Huskey, Kyrbi Huskey, Myrakle Charity, Keturah Grace floral squareMalone, Keenan A. Johnny P. Bugg, age 31of Springfield, died Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at his home.

Graveside services were conducted Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 11:00 AM in York Cemetery with Rev. Kelly LeBlanc officiating. Family and friends served as pallbearers. There was no visitation prior to the graveside service.

Johnny was born June 6, 1990 in Springfield to Hattie Fort Bugg and the late Raymond Bugg. He liked to listen to music and talk to friends on Facebook. He also floral squareliked to collect game cards and watch Smackdown. He loved to help his mother and play football with his nephews.

He is survived by his mother, Hattie Bugg of Springfield; sisters, Kimberly Bugg of Lawrenceburg and Katie Bugg of Springfield; nephews, Kayshawn Wilson and Alvin Townson; and niece, E’lani Gaines.

Obituary for Charles “C.U.” Ulmer Revlett

C.U. Revlett 82, of Cedar Hill, Tennessee, formerly of Sacramento, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Northcrest Medical Center in Springfield, Tennessee. Charles Ulmer Revlett was born May 16, 1939 in Sacramento, Kentucky to the late J.B. and Gladys Myrl Dame Revlett, was married to the former Sherril Ann Hoagland December 21, 1962 and was better known as “C.U.” to both his family and friends. C.U. was a farmer, attended Heads Free Will Baptist Church in Cedar Hill and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He enjoyed working on cars, caring for his dog and best friend, “Bear” and spending time with both his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, C.U. was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Wayne Revlett and by a sister, Karen Baumer.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Sherril Revlett; two sons, Rev. Brett Revlett (Terri) of Cedar Lake, Indiana and Chad Revlett (Molly) of Cedar Hill; a daughter, Christi Burden (Mark) of Sacramento; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and four sisters, Linda Parrot of St. Louis, Connie Ellis (James) of Sacramento, Judy Miller (Billy) of Bremen and Jane Revlett of St. Petersburg, Florida.

Graveside services were held at 6:00 P.M. Saturday at Sacramento Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in Sacramento with his son, the Rev. Brett Revlett officiating. There was no public visitation. Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel is handling the arrangements for C.U.’s family.

Obituary for Ronald Dean Cornelius

Ronald Dean Cornelius was born in Richmond, California on February 15, 1945. He passed away at the age of 76 on Aug 18, 2021, at NorthCrest Health in Springfield, TN from complications after suffering a stroke two months prior. Ron was a resident of Pleasant View, TN at the time of his death. He moved to Nashville and has lived in the surrounding area for the past 40+ years.

Ron graduated from Richmond High School in 1962. By that time his band, The Untouchables, already had their first record deal. The band continued to play annually at a charity fundraiser until COVID hit. Ron had an amazing music career that spanned over six decades. He played in several bands and released a solo album, Tin Luck. He has been in concert with, on tour with or played on the albums of Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Charlie Daniels, Glen Campbell, Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald and many more. Later in his life he became a music producer in Nashville, owning both the Cornelius Companies and Gateway Entertainment. Many of his incredible stories were chronicled in his book, The Guitar Behind Dylan & Cohen.

Ronald Roe Holmes, “Ron”, age 76, of Cross Plains, Tennessee, died Saturday August 21, 2021, at Tristar Skyline in Nashville, TN.

Graveside services were held at 1 pm on Wednesday August 25, 2021, at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cross Plains, Tennessee. There was no visitation prior to the graveside service.

Ron was born August 17, 1945, in Springfield, TN to the late Robert Holmes and Helen Roe Holmes. His brother, Robert Holmes and sister, Carolyn Dillard also preceded him in death. He was a retired computer programmer with IBM. A career highlight was doing program work on the first ever ATM. He loved playing golf and traveling and especially his dog, Ralph.

Holmes: sons and daughters-in-law, James and Beth Holmes, Steve and Alice Holmes, Mike Holmes, Adam and Kim Stosky, Michael Stosky and James Hosael; sister. Obituary for Joseph Randolph

Joseph Lee Randolph, age 93, of Joelton, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021 at St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville.

A graveside service was held Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 11am in the Springfield Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers were Guy Coggin, Wayne Bennett, Paul Summers, Dewayne Fulcher, Steve Teague and Andy Arms.

Visitation was held graveside at the Springfield Memorial Gardens, on Wednesday from 10:00am until the hour of service at 11:00AM. Please observe Covid Protocol.

Mr. Randolph was born July 8, 1928 in Orlinda to the late Albert G. and Ann Choate Randolph. He worked in automotive body work for over 40 years, 24 of which were at Beaman Motor Company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in from 1950-1952. He was also a past Master of Wester Star Lodge #9.

Betty Lane Cox, age 84, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021 at NorthCrest Medical Center.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 12pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield. Burial followed in the Elmwood Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation was held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from 4-8pm and again on Wednesday from 10am until the hour of service at 12pm.

Mrs. Cox was born June 11, 1937 in Springfield to the late Richard J. and Florence M. Lane Rippy. She worked at Acme Boot for many years and was a member of Springfield Baptist Church. She loved her family, cooking, farming, flowers and Elvis.

He was born in Garrison, ND on June 12, 1952 to the late Wayne and Emma Lella Jones Tackett.

She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. She worked as a butcher in food service. She loved her family and was proud to be an American citizen. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting and cooking.

Age 66, of White House passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021 at NHC in Hendersonville. She was born April 15, 1955 in Cuba, IL to William & Mary Toland Aten. She worked various jobs over the years but spent every summer working as a grain tester for FS Grain Co She considered herself an “old hippee” and she really had an ear for music, listening to a song once and knowing if it would become a hit.

She is preceded in death by her father, William Aten; step-father and mother, Kenneth and Mary Bishop; daughter, Sylvia Michelle floral square“Shelly”; brother, Jimmy; sister, Jan. She is survived by her son, Kenneth Michael “Buddy” Friday; daughter, Bobbie Jo Friday, both of White House, TN; brothers, Tom Rutledge, Adair, IL and Bill (Connie) Aten, Bushnell, IL; sister, Marie (Gary) McCombs, Iowa; 5 grandchildren, Cody, Brady, Emily, Ellie and Evie; 2 great-grandchildren, Palmer and Shepherd.

He was also preceded in death by his wife Helen Delores Stack Wood; brother, Bobby Harned Wood and sister, Fannie Mae Wood. He worked as a Brick Mason in the housing industry. He loved his family very much and enjoyed traveling and fishing.

Clay was born on February 17,1967 in Nashville, Tennessee to Paul Tucker, Jr. and Paula Llewellyn Walker. He worked in construction for many years. He loved to play pool and was an avid fisherman, where he competed in many tournaments. Clay loved the outdoors, camping, and the lake.

Obituary for Wanda Gail Andrews

Age 68 of White House went home to be with the Lord Friday, August 20, 2021 at her home. She was born July 6, 1953 in Hartsville, TN to Erby D. & Clara Lee Green Lankford. Mrs.

Andrews was a member of the Church of the Firstborn in Hartsville and a dedicated servant to her church, serving in many areas over the years. Just a few of those included working in VBS, summer camps, youth activities and with senior groups. She always had a willing heart to help where she was needed. She had a beautiful voice and sang in church her entire life. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and was so very proud of her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Earl Gwin (Janette) Lankford; son-in-law, Doug Ferris. Mrs. Doris Coleman Bagby, age 96, of Adams, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021 at her home.

A Graveside Service was held Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 8am in the Bellwood Cemetery with Brother Marvin Crouch officiating. There was no visitation prior to the graveside service.

Mrs. Bagby was born February 15, 1925 in Davidson County, to the late Claude and Owa Foster Coleman. She worked at Acme Boot and was a member of the Adams Church of Christ. She loved going to church, cooking, talking on the phone and taking care of her family.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Bagby is preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Walker Bagby and her son, Thomas Andrew Bagby.

Obituary for Eula Belle Stockard

Eula Belle Ellison Stockard, a longtime physical education teacher at Nannie Berry Elementary School in Hendersonville, died on Thursday, August 19, at age 86.

The daughter of Elsie Carrie Harder Boyd and Albert Ellison Sr., she was born July 6, 1935 on Cedar Creek near Linden in Perry County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Langford Stockard; brother, Eddie Ellison; and sister, Nancy Barrett. Survivors are daughters, Emily Stockard (John Leeds) and Carrie Stockard, and son, Sam Stockard (Diane); sister, Ollie Mae Moore; brother, Albert Ellison Jr.; and her grandchildren, Andrea and Sam Stockard, Will and Charlotte Cloyd and Atticus Leeds. Also surviving are brother, James Ellison, and two sisters, Linda Barber and Ruby Himes.

A standout basketball player at Linden High School, Eula earned a bachelor’s degree at George Peabody Teachers College, where she met Richard. They married Aug. 18, 1957 and moved to California where Emily and Carrie were born before they decided to move back to Tennessee where son Sam was born.

Eula taught at Nannie Berry from 1970 until her retirement in 1995 where she started the Presidential Physical Fitness Program, the Nannie Berry Yardage Club and Hershey Track and Field program. She affected the lives of thousands of students, encouraging them to excel at their favorite sports and physical fitness activities.
She was often referred to as the “Bicycle Lady,” and many people still recall seeing her riding her bike to school, which she did nearly every day for more than 15 years.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hendersonville, where she was a member of the Women’s Society, and for several years she and Richard attended West End United Methodist Church in Nashville.

In retirement, Eula continued a life of physical fitness, in addition to traveling, tending to flower gardens, reading to children at Nannie Berry, and playing with her grandchildren and neighborhood children.

Her family held a visitation for Eula on Tuesday, August 24, from 5:30pm – 7:30pm in the Nannie Berry Elementary School gym.

Age 56 of White House went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Hendersonville Medical Center. He was born January 19, 1965 in Clarksville, TN to Tom & Faye Wall Hutson. He was the co-partner of Hutson brothers Plumbing and was a member of White House Church of Christ. Mr. Hutson enjoyed drag racing, deer hunting and was an avid outdoorsmen. Most of all, he loved his family and his church.

He is preceded in death by his father, Tom Hutson. She served as a Cafeteria worker for the Robertson County School System and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. She loved her family and her church very much. She enjoyed the outdoors and flowers.

Tommy Dewayne Smith of Hendersonville, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021. He was known for his big heart, his kindness, and great smile. He loved his family dearly.

Age 63 of Cross Plains, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021 at his home. He was born April 14, 1958 in Ogden, UT to Herbert John & Virginia Hall Yarlett. He retired as a deputy with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Department, after 15 years of service.
