Obituary for Beatrice Stone

Beatrice Stone, 64, of Springfield, departed this life, to be in the arms of her Lord and Savior, on Sunday May 16, 2021. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday May 20th at 2:00 p.m. in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill. Pallbearers will be Bobby Ray Lunsford, Bobby Stone, Troy Doss, Gary Doss, Robert Lunsford, Jr., and Leslie Doss. There will be no public visitation prior to the graveside service.

Beatrice was born April 7, 1957 in Springfield to the late Jacob and Gladys Marie Darden Stone. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined with the congregation at Bridge Hill Missionary Baptist floral squareChurch, where she served as a church usher. Beatrice loved all of her family especially her children and grandchildren.

Beatrice leaves to cherish her memory, her loving son: Bobby Stone of Springfield, her loving daughter: Lakesha Lunsford of Springfield, her sister: Rebecca Taylor of White House, her 7 grandchildren, her 1 great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Obituary for Thomas Ray “Tom” Walker

Thomas Ray “Tom” Walker, 62, of Greenbrier, passed away on Friday May 14, 2021 at VA Medical Center in Nashville. Memorial services will be conducted Sunday May 23, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church 811 16th Ave. Springfield, TN with Reverend Judson Phenicie and Reverend David Davis officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.

Tom was born March 30, 1959 in Springfield. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany. Tom worked in construction and was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Springfield. He loved riding his motorcycle and was an avid leader and assistant Scout Master with the Boy Scouts of America. Tom was most known for his love of being Santa Claus and talking to children like Donald Duck. He was preceded in death by his father: Horace Edward Walker, by his mother: Peggy Blick Bush, and by his brother: Rodney Walker.

Obituary for Jean Ellis Moss

Jean Ellis Moss, 82, of White House, passed from this life on Wednesday May 12, 2021 at her home. There will be a time of visitation with the family on Thursday May 20th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home.

Jean was born February 28, 1939 in Springfield to the late Earnest M. and Edith Leftrick Burns. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Jean enjoyed traveling to Tunica with her brothers, to the Florida beaches with her husband Ed, and to the Smokey Mountains with her daughter Elaine. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Joe and Ricky Burns, and by the father of her daughter: James Boyd Ellis.

Jean is survived by her husband of 33 years: Paul “Ed” Moss of White House, by her daughter: Elaine Ellis of Springfield, and by her brothers: Mike Burns of Hartsville and Rip Burns of Springfield.

David “Cole” Hunter, age 37 of Pleasant View, Tennessee, died Sunday, May 16, 2021 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View at 2:00PM on Friday, May 21, 2021 with Mark Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Fox Cemetery adjacent to the Hunter Farm with Daniel James, Joseph Ziegler, Bill Brinkley, J.J. Moulton, L.A. Altom, and Phil Parker serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Lance Ashton, Gabe Altom, Mack Williams, Randy Fox, Jeremy Ramsey Ismael Villegas, and Chris Simmons.

Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00AM Fri, May 21st, until the hour of service at 2:00PM.

Cole was born on March 1, 1984 in Nashville, Tennessee to Phyllis Ramsey Hunter and the late David “Chief” Hunter. He was a farmer and was CEO of Hunter’s Flagpole Company. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed collecting metals and other items for scrap metal. Cole loved his Mountain Dew, the Big Gulp, and especially his Big Dog Roscoe.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Buford “Blackie” and Doris Hunter & Jesse and Mary Ramsey.

Obituary for Ashley Durham

Ashley Dale Durham, age 71, of Springfield, passed away Friday, May 14, 2021 at Centennial Medical Center. Mr. Durham’s remains will be cremated and a memorial service will be held in Tullahoma, TN at a later date.

Mr. Durham was born April 26, 1950 in Winchester, TN to the late Murphy Dale and Arizona Branch Durham. He was the owner and operator of S & A Satelite and Sound and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved his family, fishing, and all TN sports and enjoyed reading about military history. He enjoyed playing his guitars and played in several bands over the years.

Obituary for George Howard Washington

(Springfield, TN) Robertson County Fixture, George Washington Has Died, He Was 85

If you have lived in Springfield for a while then you probably remember George Washington. A long-time fixture in the Springfield area, George was a tobacco farmer, fisherman, and Navy veteran. We lost George today, he was 83.

Born in Springfield in 1938, George Howard Washington died today (Sunday) in Springfield at Waters Of Springfield.

George served his country in the Navy from 1955-1958. In a sitdown interview back in 2012, George told Smokey Barn News that, other than tobacco farming, he did construction work and even milked cows for a living over the years.

George said he used to like to hunt but stopped because, in George’s own words, “That’s killin’, I don’t like that. I like to fish.” – “My life has been alright with me, is all I can say. Even the bad times were good to me,” George said.

We asked George if he was religious; “Yes, I believe in Christ, He died for us you know. Trust in the Lord, he brought me through.”

Obituary for Gerald Ray “Bronc” Clinard

Gerald Ray “Bronc” Clinard, 68, of Greenbrier, passed away on Monday May 10, 2021 at North Crest Medical Center.

Funeral services were conducted Friday May 14th at 12 noon in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Sharon Cemetery with Ryan Clinard, James Story, Josh Clinard, David Lowe, Jerry Worsham, Marks Rios, Steven Krahn, and Darrell Toombs serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Ray was born January 2, 1953 in Springfield to the late Raymond and Margaret Gentry Clinard. He was a graduate of Springfield High School Class of 1971. Ray worked on the Pipeline for many years serving as a Master Mechanic, Equipment Manager, and Global Superintendent. After his retirement from the pipeline, he was the owner and operator of Pipelayer Services. Ray served in the National Guard and was a member of Mt. Sharon Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed car collecting, farming, raising his cattle, and grilling out with his family and friends. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren on the farm riding the four wheelers, feeding the cows, and watching movies together. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step grandchild: Blake Alvey.

Ray is survived by his wife: Debbie Toombs Clinard of Greenbrier, by his son: Ryan Clinard and wife Stacey of Gallatin, by his daughter: Jena Rae Story and husband James of Signal Mountain, TN, by his step children: Michelle Krahn and husband Steven of Texas, Misty Rios and husband Mark of Texas, Megan Lowe and husband David of Springfield, by his brother: Ricky Clinard and wife Diane of Greenbrier, by his nephew: Josh Clinard of Greenbrier, by floral squarehis grandchildren: Hudson, Carson, Dawson, and Jackson Ray Clinard, Emma Welch, Annabelle, and Mary Margaret Story, and by his step grandchildren: Ryne Krahn, Jordan Flores, Allyssa Flores, Mark Rios III, Madison Rios, and William Collins.

Carl Thomas “Tommy” Brake, better known to his friends as Tomcat, age 67 of Ashland City, Tennessee, died Friday, May 14, 2021 at St. Thomas Midtown.

There will be a Celebration of Life gathering held at a later date.

Mr. Brake was born on October 23, 1953 in Clarksville, Tennessee to Dorothy Watts Brake and the late James Brake. He was in sales at A.O. Smith, formerly State Industries, for over 30 years before starting his own business, Ground Water Pump and Drilling Supply in Murfreesboro. He loved to golf, fish, and attended Cross Point Church.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his sister, Prissy Grantham.

Arrangements for Adonis Traughber

Adonis Rodriquez Traughber was born on August 28, 1966, in Clarksville, Tennessee. He was the son of Mr. Carl Michael Toliver and the late Mrs.Roberta Diane Earnest. On May 8, 2021, Adonis departed this earthly life.

He attended the public schools in Montgomery County. He continued his education by attending Job Core in North Carolina, where he became a Certified Welder. Being a Welder was a great passion of his, throughout his life. His employment over the years included a lengthy employment with Electrolux in Springfield, Tennessee and his last employment was with Manpower.

He accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized a number of years ago under the pastoral of Lorenzo Shepherd of the First Seventh Day Adventist Church of Springfield, Tennessee. He helped in the remodeling of the church and continued with Bible Study.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Roberta Diane Earnest and grandparents, James Clinton Traughber and Ruby June Traughber.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his father, Mr. Carl Michael Toliver of Detroit, MI; two brothers, Rico (Shelly) Toliver of Atlanta, GA and Pernell (Shauna) Gibson of Battle Creek, MI; four sisters, Subrina (Terry) Doty of Monroe, GA, Marva Toliver of Dayton, Ohio, Tameka Toliver of Detroit, MI and Ashley (Larry) Williams of Detroit, MI; three aunts, Jackie Coleman of Madisonville, TN, Rosa Camille Bowens of Bethlehem, GA, and Lillie Mae (Lonnell) Garrett of Clarksville, TN; three uncles, Alvin Toliver of Summerset, NJ, David Toliver of Milwaukee, WI and James V. Jack “Jackie” Edward Winters, age 77 of Smithville, Tennessee, formerly of Pleasant View, died Thursday, May 13, 2021 at his home.

Mr. Winters was born on October 24th, 1943 in Pleasant View, Tennessee to the late Charlemagne and Ora Lee Morris Winters. He was a very talented tile setter and was the owner of Gordon & Associates Tile Company for over 25 years. He was a social butterfly and loved spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed NASCAR racing, fishing and boating on Center Hill Lake.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Charles Winters.

Obituary for Tommy Joe Haley

Tommy Joe Haley, age 85 of Goodlettsville, TN passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN.

Funeral Service was held at 11:30am on Saturday, May 15th at Austin & Bell Funeral Home Greenbrier with Bro. Roger Elliott officiating. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery with grandchildren serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office. The family will receive friends 4pm to 8pm on Friday, May 14 and 10am until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. He was born in Yale, OK on July 24, 1935 to the late Loyd Charley and Rena Pearl Munds Haley. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Jackie “Bob” Haley, Charles “Dick” Haley and Mildred “Mickey” Vaughn.

He was a faithful member of Long Hollow Baptist Church and he loved his church and church family very much. He was a 29 year Veteran of the US Army retired at the rank of Sergeant First Class, a former Deputy with the Robertson County Sheriffs Office. He also worked 35 years at Gates Armstrong Pireli.

He loved his family very much and loved spending time with them. He loved bowling in the bowling league, four-wheeling, traveling, motorcycling, gardening and taking care of his yard work along with his wife of 62 years. He also loved his “68 Cougar XR7 and tinkering with it and riding in parades and other special events.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dale Marie Birdwell Haley; daughters, Cindy (Darryle) Hajdu of Ridgetop, Karen Haley-Thompson of Goodlettsville; Son, MAJ Stephen (Jennifer) Haley of floral squareMurfreesboro; brother, Darrell (Nancy) Haley of Elmore City, OK; grandchildren, Brandon Hajdu, Brian Hajdu, Bradley Hajdu, Heather Thompson, Neil Thompson, Matthew Thompson, Ethan Haley, Paige Haley amd 7 great-grandchildren.

William Jerry “Petie” Rice, Jr., age 64, of Greenbrier, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021, at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 2pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Jeff Archey and Brother Keith Howell officiating. Burial followed in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation was held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 4-8pm and again on Thursday from 12pm until the hour of service.

Mr. Rice was born August 18, 1956 in Springfield to the late William Jerry and Shirley White Rice, Sr. He worked in the Parts and Service Department at Tracy Langston Ford in Springfield and was a member of the Hillcrest Church of Christ. He loved his family, Vanderbilt Men’s Basketball and football, the Predators, fishing and camping, his church and his Jeep.

Obituary for Michael Shane Simmons

Michael Shane Simmons, age 38, of Gallatin, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 7, 2021 at TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center.

Michael was a goofy and fun-loving guy who knew how to make people laugh and had the biggest heart in the world. He loved his family, loved his work and loved ridding four wheelers.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Judy Simmons.

Nicholas Edward Killion, age 31, of Adams, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021 at his home.

Mr. Killion was born May 22, 1989 in San Bernadino, CA to Johnny and Tina Killion of Adams. He worked as a computer technician and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Nicholas E. Killion was a former U.S Navy sailor who proudly and honorably served his country.

It is with a heavy heart that Nic is no longer with us. Our hearts are shattered because we didn’t have enough time with him. There’s never enough time when someone you love departs the earth.

Nic loved fiercely, family was his priority above all else. If you knew Nic, you would know he would have done all he could in his power to help a friend out in need.

Jennifer was born October 13, 1980 in Madison. She was a graduate of Springfield High School and received her Nursing degree from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY. Jennifer had worked as a registered nurse with Skyline Medical Center and was of the Church of Christ faith. Jennifer loved listening to music and being a mother to her children. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Bill and Sylvia Wieger, Freddie and Elizabeth Washer.

Obituary for Jackie Mae Cobb

On Friday, May 7, 2021, Jackie Mae Cobb, loving mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 86. Her family and friends were the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of her kindness, compassion, and care will live on through those who knew her.

Visitation was held at the Robertson County Funeral Home on Friday, May 14, from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a graveside service to follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Mt. Sharon Cemetery with Reverend Diane Coppock officiating. Pallbearers were Richard Cobb, Harold Axley, Terry Ellis, Michael Baldwin, Robert Clinard, and Tommy Clinard.

Jackie was born on September 23, 1934, in Nashville, Tennessee, to Jack and Dollie Mae (Dillard) Jones. She graduated from Coopertown High School in 1952.

She married Charles Martin Cobb in August of 1955, and the two lived briefly in South Carolina and Illinois before settling in Springfield, Tennessee, to raise two children, Bettye Ann and Bryant Andrew. For many years, she brought optimism, generosity, and dedicated service to her work at Wal-Mart and at church, where she cherished the friendship of her co-workers and church family. She was a member of Mt. Sharon Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and also attended Palestine United Methodist Church with her sister Linda, and where her mother was a member for many years.

Jackie is preceded in death by her husband, Charles, as well as her parents, and brother Jady Lee Jones. She is survived by siblings Martha Nell Clinard of Cedar Hill, Bobby Wayne and Margaret Jones of Lebanon, Wallace Edward Jones of Watertown, Mary Ellen floral squareGibbs of California, and Linda Faye Clinard, as well as her lifelong friend Aline Crutcher, her two children, and two grandchildren, Jessica Axley and Emily Cobb.

Obituary for Robert Conrad White

Robert White, age 56, died March 26, 2021 (8/18/1964-3/26/2021) in Hollow Rock, TN after a two-month battle with cancer. He was a Veteran of the US Army, stationed in Germany.

Robert was born to Earl and Margie Parrish White in Madison, TN on 8/18/1964.

He was known as “the computer guy” and was employed by Hexpol in Huntingdon,TN.

Roberts wishes were to be cremated. He will be laid to rest in Palmers Shelter Cemetery, Huntingdon, TN next to his Father, Earl Richard White.

floral squareHe is survived by his mother Margie Parrish White of Greenbrier, TN, daughters Krystal and Grace White of Hollow Rock, grandson Robbie, lifemate Pam Wright, brother Jeff White, sisters Debbie Greene, Tina Paul and Sheila Franks and his furry best friend Nugget.

He will be remembered as a hard worker, extremely intelligent man who loved and respected everyone and gave freely of all he had.

A Celebration of Life was held on April 1, 2021 with family and friends reflecting on his life well lived and well loved.

Obituary for Galen Wade Allen

Galen Wade Allen, 74, of Greenbrier, passed away on Friday May 7, 2021 at The Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday May 11th at 11:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Brother James Shoulders officiating. Interment followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Brian Lepage, Chuck Adcock, and Daniel Allen serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Galen was born March 1, 1947 in Russellville, KY to the late Myron Allen and Christine Pitts Allen. He was a retired insurance agent with AIG and was of the Baptist faith. Galen enjoyed playing golf and watching westerns on TV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother: Aileen Allen, and by his brother: Richard “Dickey” Allen.

Obituary for Granville Lee Busey

Granville Lee Busey, 90, of Springfield, passed from this life on Thursday May 6, 2021 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday May 11th at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Nick Herring officiating. Interment followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Bill Davenport, Jr., Chuck Head, Jerry Dixon, Michael Gorham, Kenny Gorham, and Matt Little serving as pallbearers. Robert Bull served as an honorary pallbearer. The family received friends on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. An Eastern Star service was held at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m.

Mr. Granville was born October 22, 1930 in Readyville, TN to the late Arthur Ernest and Hattie Emiline Barrett Busey. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Granville was a retired accountant and office manager with the Robertson County Clerk’s office. He was a member of Woodland Street United Methodist Church, where he served as church treasurer for many years and was a member of the Methodist Layman’s Association. Mr. Granville was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Masonic Temple, and Western Star Lodge. He was a Worthy Grand Patron and was the State Grand Treasurer for over 30 years with the Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Granville enjoyed many things in life, but his life revolved around his family, his church, and his involvement and dedication with the Eastern Star.

Mr. Granville is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law: Granville Ray Busey of Clarksville, whom Mr. Granville had been living with the past three years, Ricky Lynn and Florence Busey of Collierville, by his grandchildren: Zachary Busey, Victoria Burdeshaw, Joshua Busey, Quinten Busey, Janie Shelton, and Lee Busey, and by three great grandchildren.

Obituary for Vicki Beerman Jenkins

Vicki Beerman Jenkins, 69, of Springfield, passed from this life on Tuesday May 4, 2021 at The Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

Funeral services were conducted Friday May 7th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating. Interment followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with James Williams, Alec Spears, Michael Spears, Timmy Holland, Jeremy Beerman, Michael Hyde, and Jeff Beerman serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Vicki was born December 29, 1951 in Springfield to the late Charles and Elizabeth Rather Beerman. She was a graduate of Jo Byrns High School. Vicki worked in assembly at Holley in Springfield and attended North Springfield Baptist Church. Vicki loved sports, especially the Tennessee Lady Vols. She coached her daughters in softball when they were growing up, and then she coached her granddaughters in basketball. Vicki always enjoyed feeding and seeing the hummingbirds at her house, and her family, especially her grandchildren, were her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Chuck Beerman, and by her sister: Jean Burchett. Vicki is survived by her husband: Jerry Jenkins of Springfield, by her daughters and son-in-law: Stacy and Michael Spears of Springfield, Amanda Williams of Springfield, by her grandchildren: Jayce floral squareFuqua, Morgan Singer, James Williams, Alec Spears, and Victoria Williams, and by her sisters and brothers-in-law: Gail and Dan Bush of Springfield, Paula and Bill Sandy of Cottontown, Kathy and George Smith of Springfield.

Obituary for Edgar Harrell

Edgar Alvin Harrell, age 96 of Clarksville, Tennessee, died Saturday, May 8, 2021 at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Clarksville.

Funeral services were conducted at Calvary Bible Church, 5245 Clarksville Highway, Joelton, TN 37080 at 10:30AM on Saturday, May 15th, with his son, Dr. David Harrell, and Chaplain Kenneth Kerr (retired Colonel United States Army) officiating.

Burial followed at 2:30PM in Murray Memorial Gardens, Murray, Kentucky with his grandsons serving as pallbearers.

The family received friends at the Calvary Bible Church on Friday, May 14th from 4:00PM until 7:00PM and again on Saturday from 9:30AM until the hour of service at 10:30AM.

Mr. Harrell was born on October 10th, 1924 in Trigg County, Kentucky to the late Alvin H. and Myra Belle Atwood Harrell. He was a retired Distributor with Pella Window Company and was a member of Calvary Bible Church.

He was a decorated World War II Marine who fought in the Pacific theater aboard the USS INDIANAPOLIS and was the last surviving Marine of her sinking (the greatest naval catastrophe at sea in the history of the Navy), a recipient of the Congressional Gold Medal, and received an honorary promotion to the rank of Sergeant in 2018. More importantly, he was a godly man with a deep love for Christ and a longing for His return.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ola Mae Harrell; daughter, Cathey Tierney; 4 brothers; and 2 sisters.

floral squareSurvivors include his son, Dr. David (Nancy) Harrell; son-in-law, Dr. Joe (Alice) Tierney; brothers, Bob (Nancy) Harrell and Bill (Norma) Harrell; and grandchildren, Joseph (Dana) Harrell, Jana (Andrew) Zulewski, Joshua (Lara) Harrell, Joseph (Sarah) Tierney, Colin Tierney, Ben Tierney, Ross Tierny, and Celeste Tierney; 14 great-grandchildren.

Obituary for Joyce O. Crunk

Joyce O. Crunk, 79, of Greer, South Carolina went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 7, 2021. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Born, May 23, 1941, she was the daughter of Estel and Nora Dell Osborne of Cross Plains, TN. After raising her own children, she enjoyed teaching others in preschool and Sunday School. She is currently a member of Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church, Greenville, SC.

She is survived by her daughter Debbie Duckworth (Glenn); son Timothy Crunk (Cindy); and four grandchildren, Morgan Duckworth, Hunter Duckworth, Ashley Cousins (Caleb) and Jonathan Crunk.

Obituary for James Willhite

James Willhite, age 87 of Collierville, TN formerly of Springfield, TN passed away Friday, May 7, 2021 at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville.

Funeral Services was held at 10am, Wednesday, May 12th at Main Street Church of Christ in Springfield, TN. Burial followed in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Hurricane Mill, TN. The family received friends 4pm to 8pm on Tuesday, May 11th and 9am until the time of service on Wednesday at Main Street Church of Christ.

He was born June 23, 1933 in Hurricane Mills, TN to the late Bell and Ollie Page Willhite. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sara ‘Ruth” Youree Willhite; sister, Ollie Bell Watson and brother, Dennis Willhite.

He was a member of Main Street Church of Christ and a Veteran of the US Navy.

He had a BS Degree in Animal Science and a Master’s Degree in Animal Husbandry and served as the 4-H Agent with the Agriculture Extension Office.

He is survived by son, Edwin (Barbara) Willhite of Murfreesboro, TN; daughter, Adelia (Andy) Gaines of Coldwater, MS; twin-floral squarebrother, Joe (Shirley) Willhite of Martin, TN; grandchildren, David (Kristina) Willhite, Andrea (Glenn) Hollingsworth, Paige Willhite, Rachael (George) Hilliard, Mary Kate Gaines, Will Gaines and great-grandchild, Barrett Hollingsworth.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Main Street Church of Christ Building Fund or the Church of Christ Disaster Relief Fund.

Obituary for Melissa Shepard

Mary “Melissa” Shepard, age 49 of Clarksville, Tennessee, died Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at AHC Clarksville.

Graveside services were conducted at Sango Cemetery in Clarksville at 11:00AM on Saturday, May 8, with Chaplain Garrette Milliken conducting the committal service. Burial followed with Randy Goff, Alan Shepard, Stan Shepard, Jason Shepard, Josh Shepard, and Greg Balthrop serving as pallbearers. There was no visitation prior to the graveside service at the funeral home.

Melissa was born on May 23, 1971 in Clarksville, Tennessee to the late Buster and Joann Eden Shepard. She had worked for HATS as floral squarean aid worker. She loved to horseback ride and her dog and attended Stroudsville Church of Christ.

Survivors include her sisters, Angie (Randy) Goff and Melaine Shepard; uncle, Rocky (Joanne) Shepard; niece, Sarah Golf; and a special friend, Penny Maltais Woods.
