Obituary for Cathy Ann Bilyeu Gupton

Cathy Ann Bilyeu Gupton, age 62 of Cedar Hill, passed from this life on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Skyline Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 1:00 pm in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Penny Stratton officiating. Burial will follow in Brewer’s Chapel Cemetery with Joe Bilyeu, Steve Florence, Randy Bugg, Ozzy Hicks, Coupe Hicks, and Mike Bilyeu serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Debbie Jones Askew, Regina Scarbrough Daigle. and Angela Johnson Crain. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4 until 8 PM and Tuesday from 11 AM until the hour of service.

Cathy was born September 30, 1960 in Cynthiana, KY. She was a member of Brewer’s Chapel United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. She had worked for 20 years at Unarco where she met her husband Keith. She loved going to the beach and being a “Nana”. She loved her family and her day dates with her girls and also chatting and spending time with the “Golden Girls”.

floral squareShe is survived by her husband, Keith Gupton of Cedar Hill; sons and daughter-in-law, Jeremy House of Cedar Hill and Joshua and Katie Gupton of Clarksville; daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Chris Hicks of Orlinda; parents, Charlie and Martha Bilyeu of Springfield; brothers and sister-in-law, Chuck and Carrie Bilyeu of Springfield and Chris Bilyeu of Springfield; grandchildren, Austin, Taylor, Wiley, Nicole, Coupe, Ozzy, Sha’Niyah, De’Andre, Cazz, and Zach; and great grandchildren, Talyn, Kasen, Amaya, and Ariel.

Obituary for Johnny Lee Holland

Johnny Lee Holland, age 78 of Orlinda, passed from this life on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at University of Louisville Health – Jewish Hospital.

Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Coe Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11 AM until the time of service.

Mr. Holland was born February 1, 1944 in Nashville. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and was involved with the RA’s. He grew up on a farm, served in the National Guard, and worked most of his life as a truck Driver. He retired from H.O.H. and before that drove for Reubinsville Farmers Feed Mill for many years. He was also the fire chief for the Orlinda Volunteer Fire Department at one time. In his spare time he enjoyed watching Western’s and listening to country floral squaremusic. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edwena Spivey Holland, mother, Lillie Lou Holland; his uncle who reared him, Gomard Holland; and his sister, Sadie Holland.

He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Tonya Holland, Jr. of Springfield and Charley Holland of Orlinda; brother and sister-in-law, Jackie and Sue Holland; and grandchildren, Jesse Holland, Emma Grace Trent, and Clayton Holland.

Age 86 of White House passed away Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Hendersonville Medical Center. She was born February 7, 1936 in Franklin, KY to Henry & Zula Brown Carter. She worked as a homemaker. Barbara was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling, watching classic movies and vegetable gardening. She enjoyed spending time with her family most of all. She was of the Baptist faith. She is preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Vicky Lynn Crafton; sister, Doris Carter; brothers, Jim Carter and Bill Carter.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Jack W. Crafton, White House, TN; son, Brett (Melanie) Crafton, Springfield, TN; daughter, Tracy Crafton, White House, TN; 4 grandchildren, Brittany (Jeromi) Critikos, Dallas Crafton, Tyler Crafton and Madison Crafton.

She worked as a medical transcriptionist before her retirement. She enjoyed quilting, playing word games, especially scrabble, watching Wheel of Fortune, bargain shopping and puppies and birds. She was of the Nazarene faith.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gary D. Nelson. Obituary for Chris Williams

On Wednesday, January 4, 2023, Christian Dean Williams, loving husband, father of two children, and grandfather of one grandchild, passed away at the age of 59.

Mr. Williams was born January 1, 1964, the New Year’s Baby, in Newport, TN, to Mr. Arthur Dean Williams and the late Mrs. Alice T. Williams. He received his Bachelor’s of Industrial Management from the University of Tennessee in 1982 and on October 14, 1989, he married Amanda Turner. They raised two children, Kathryn Christian Williams and Turner Dean Williams.

Mr. Williams was a member of Springfield Baptist Church. He loved being involved with his church where he taught Sunday School and served as a Deacon.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and was described as having a “gigantic smile and twinkling eyes, with a rare personality that made you feel better just by being around him”.

In addition to his mother Mr. Williams is preceded in death by his grandmother, Iota Wilson Thornton, and several beloved cousins, uncles and aunts. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 33 years, Amanda Turner Williams; his daughter, Kathryn Williams; son, Turner Williams and his fiancé, Riley; his father and his wife, Arthur Dean and Carolyn Williams; sisters and brothers-in-law, Amy and David Pitts and, Sharon and Carl Daugherty; brother-in-law, Bruce Turner; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Suzanne and Jimmy Lee; grandson, River Soloman Williams; and several nieces and nephews.

Judy Anders “NANA” Mueller, age 73 of Ashland City, Tennessee, died Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at The Residence of Alive Hospice in Nashville.

Funeral services were conducted at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View at 2:00PM on Saturday, January 7th with Pastor Mike Hollis officiating. Burial followed in Good Springs Cemetery with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.

The family received friends at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View on Saturday, January 7th from 10:00AM until the hour of service at 2:00PM.

Mrs. Mueller was born on October 12, 1949 in Gadson, Alabama to the late Moses & Inez Jones Burks. She was a hairstylist for many years. She was a member of the North Cheatham Civitan Club. Judy loved to cook, dance, and to help others. She was a member of Good Springs Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Rayford Anders; her second husband, John Mueller; brother, James Burks; and granddaughter, Crystal Searcy.

Mr. Austin was born November 1, 1944 in Springfield to the late Thomas E. and Susie Covington Austin, Sr. He was a funeral director and was of the Baptist Faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, was a member of the Civitan Club, was a Mason, was a member of the Rotary Club, and was a member of the New Chapel Men’s Club.

Lenora Ann Bradley Baggett, age 61, of Adams, passed away December 27, 2022 at her home. A graveside service will be held in the Bellwood Cemetery on Monday, January 16, 2023 at 11am. No visitation will be held prior to the graveside service.

Mrs. Baggett was born September 3, 1961 in Bakersfield, CA to the late Oliver and Judith Nagle Bradley. She was a Registered Nurse and worked at NorthCrest Medical Center.

Donna Ruth Rawls Head, 70, of Springfield, passed from this life on Saturday December 31, 2022, at the home of her sister.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday January 5th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Kenny Hix officiating. The family received friends on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Donna was born February 13, 1952, in Springfield to the late John Howard and Martha Jane “Sis” Frey Rawls. She was a graduate of Springfield High School Class of 1970 and went on to obtain her bachelor’s degree from Austin Peay State University. Donna was a retired teacher of 33 years with the Robertson County Board of Education and was a member of Coopertown Church of Christ. She enjoyed all University of Kentucky sports, loved spending time with her family and friends, but especially with her grandchildren and going to their sporting events, and was the queen of shopping at Goodwill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandchild: Malia Head.

Donna is survived by her husband: Jerry M. Gene Allen Shrum, 76, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday December 31, 2022, at the home of his niece in Lebanon.

Graveside services were conducted Wednesday January 4th at 2:00 p.m. in the Bethlehem Cemetery with Dale Swearingen officiating. The family received friends on Wednesday from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home.

Mr. Shrum was born May 10, 1946, in Hartsville to the late Robert Lee and Mary Elizabeth Stafford Shrum. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a retired mill operator from Unarco in Springfield. Mr. Shrum enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was a great outdoorsman.

Burial followed in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with David Henderson, Philip Harris, Scott Baker, Addison Baker, Jeff Privett and Michael Morris serving as pallbearers. Mr. Mike Carroll was an honorary pallbearer.

Mrs. Harris was born May 6, 1942 in Springfield to the late Edmund Curtis and Rachel Hinkle Henderson. She was a homemaker and member of Springfield Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Harris is preceded in death by her sisters, Louise Faye Henderson and Joyce Krisle.

Larry Wayne Grace, age 74, of Adairville, Kentucky, died Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.

His remains were cremated and no services are planned at this time.

Mr. Grace was born on November 12, 1948 in Franklin, Kentucky. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he honorably served as a Green Beret. He was also a retired mechanic with the United States Postal Service. He was a Christian whose favorite hobby was spoiling his family and trying to feed the world.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by numerous brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.

Glenn Allen, 76, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday December 29, 2022, at his home, with his wife and daughter by his side.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday January 4, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with his grandson, Dakota Norris officiating. The family received friends on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Glenn was born January 25, 1946, in Russellville, KY to the late Emerson Knox and Marie Etheridge Allen. He previously worked for Don Porter Equipment, Keith Circle Steel, and then became the owner and operator of Glenn Allen Service and Repair. Glenn could tell you anything you needed to know and more about a Massey Ferguson. He was a longtime member of Mt. Denson Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Glenn enjoyed gardening, fishing, being outdoors, old war movies, watching his birdfeeders, and spending time with his family. He enjoyed listening to gospel and country music, especially the Gaither’s, George Jones, and Elvis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Phyllis Cottrell and by his brother: Van Allen.

Mary enjoyed shopping, cooking, and cleaning her home. What she loved in life the most was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandchild: Nicholas Kessler and by her sister: Jeannie Micalizzi.

Age 89 of White House passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Jubilee Hills Senior Living in Goodlettsville, TN. He was born February 4, 1933 in Nashville, TN to Marion Smiley & Gladys Winfred Blankenship Claibourne. Lieutenant Claibourne was retired, after 25 years of service, from the Metro Nashville Police Department He was a member of Goodlettsville Church of Christ, where he had served as an elder. After retiring, Mr. and Mrs. Claibourne enjoyed traveling.

(Sheila) Claibourne, Jr., White House, TN; daughter, Kay (Mike) Baker, Fort Worth, TX; brother, Marion “M.S.” (Pat) Claibourne, Springfield, TN; 5 grandchildren, Chris, Matt, Narey, Julie and Holly; 9 great-grandchildren.

Interment followed in White House Memorial Gardens with Chris Claibourne, Matt Graves, Scott Claibourne, Wyatt Claibourne, Tyler Adams and Jeff Cooper serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were M.S.Claibourne and elders of Goodlettsville Church of Christ. Visitation with the family was Saturday, January 7, 2023 10am until 2pm at the funeral home.

Obituary for Steven M. Knight Sr.

Steven Michael Knight Sr., age 70, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at his home.

Mr. Knight’s wishes were to be cremated and there are no services scheduled at this time. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Knight was born July 8, 1952 in Springfield, OH to the late Harry and Edith Fry Knight. He was a Tool and Die Team Leader at Electrolux.

In addition to his parents He was preceded in death by a brother, Roland Knight; and a sister, Lena McKenzie.

Obituary for Betty Guthrie

Betty Jean Guthrie, age 88, of Springfield, Tennessee, died Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at NorthCrest Medical Center.

Funeral services were conducted at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View at 1:00PM on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, with Rev. Patrick Nix officiating. Burial followed at 3:00PM in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville with Nicholas McCrary, Dustin Guthrie, Lawson Green, Jake Norman, Spencer Green, and Kaden Norman serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Biggs and Steve Pryor.

The family received friends at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View on Tuesday from 10:00AM until the hour of service at 1:00PM.

Mrs. Guthrie was born on April 17, 1934 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late William and Frances Biggs Smith. She was a homemaker who enjoyed playing games, quilting, being a member of the Red Hat Society, and fishing with Mr. John. She dearly loved her family and church, Flewellyn Baptist Church, where she was a member.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Guthrie; son, Rickey Eugene Guthrie; great-granddaughter, Mallory Paige Guthrie; brothers, Wesley Smith and Herbert Smith; and sister, Clara Gibson.

Survivors include her daughter, Gail (Ronnie) McCrary; grandchildren, Stacey Green (Lawson), Nicholas Adam McCrary, and Dustin Guthrie (Tosha); great-grandchildren, Shelbi Mitchell (Seth), Jayden Lynch, Spencer Green, Sienna McCrary, Bryce Green, floral squareand Hunter Guthrie; great-great-grandchildren, Brynleigh Mitchell and Annalise Mitchell; and daughter-in-law, Nadine Guthrie.

Obituary for Don Head, Sr.

Don Keith Head, Sr., age 92, of the Coopertown Community, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at NHC Healthcare.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 30, 2022 at 1pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Kenneth Wayne Head and Brother Adam Callis officiating. Burial followed in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Brandon Head, Eric Head, Austin Head, Keith Head, Justin Head, and Jeffrey Head serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Browning, Sonny McMahan, Gordon Rhodes and Tony Jones. No visitation was held prior to the funeral service.

Mr. Head was born July 12, 1930 in Coopertown, TN to the late Clarence and Hazel Wilson Head. He was a long-time member of the Church of Christ at Coopertown, was a retired veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in Korea, and retired after many years with Yellow Freight as an over the road driver.

In addition to his parents Mr. Head is preceded in death by his son, Don Keith Head, Jr. and his brothers Dorris Head and Jerry Mac Head.

Mr. Head is survived by his wife of 67 years, Catherine Cohea Head; sons, Tim Head and Randy Head; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth Wayne and Linda Head; granddaughter, Lindsey (Justin) Head; grandsons, Brandon (Kayla) Head, Keith (Giselle) Head, Eric Head, and Austin Head; and four great-granddaughters, Miley Head, Bailey Head, Kennedy Head, and Sawyer Head; and three great-grandsons, Xander Head, Jax head and Jase Head. Mr. Head is also survived by a special niece, Jerri Ann Head.
