Obituary for James Wallace Schoolmaster
James Wallace Schoolmaster, 82, of Cedar Hill, died Sunday, May 7, 2023, at his home. The family will have a memorial service at a later date.
Mr. Schoolmaster was born on September 6, 1940, in Grand Rapids MI, to the late Wallace and Rose Kerr Schoolmaster. James was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War. When he got out of the Army he worked and retired as a draftsman for Electrolux in Springfield. He was an avid collector of vinyl records, stamps, and coins. James loved working on his farm, and in his garden.
Mr. Schoolmaster is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bette Schoolmaster of Cedar Hill, daughter; Kimberly Lang of Cedar Hill, Sons; George Schoolmaster of Frankfort, Ky, and Terry Schoolmaster and wife Kristy of Brentwood, Sister; Sue Schoolmaster of Grand Rapids, MI, and Seven Grandchildren.

Carol Ann Beal Trout, 83, of Springfield, passed from this life on Saturday May 6, 2023, at NHC Healthcare Center in Springfield. Funeral services will be conducted Monday May 15th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery with Bryan Timko, Bruce Baker, Ryan Baker, Alan Baker, Kyle Timko, and Andrew Baker serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Ms. Carol was born January 1, 1940, in Connellsville, PA, to the late Merle and Thelma May Beal. She was a graduate of Hempfield High School Class of 1957, in Greensburg, PA. Ms. Carol retired from assembly work and then went on to work as an elder caregiver. She was of the Christian faith and enjoyed reading and cooking, especially for a crowd. Ms. Carol loved the sunshine and warm weather and loved spending time with her family and her cats. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Ronald Amos Trout and by her sister: Margaret “Peggy” Overly.
Ms. Carol is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Bernadette and Bruce Baker of Springfield, by her son and daughter-in-law: Bryan Andrew and Fran Timko of Hunker, PA, by her sister: Linda Malago of Youngwood, PA, by her grandchildren: Ryan Baker, Alan Baker, Mindy Baker Ramos, Brandon Timko, Kyle Timko, and Matthew Timko, and by her 13 great grandchildren.

Obituary for Evelyn Bracey Empson
Evelyn Bracey Empson, age 91, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023
Mrs. Empson was born on May 3, 1932, on the family farm in Greenbrier, TN. She attended Crossroads School and graduated from Greenbrier High School Class of 1949. She retired from the Robertson County Board of Education Central Office after 27 years of service. She joined Springfield Baptist Church on October 24,1954 and was a member of the Sanctuary Choir and Senior Adult Choir for many years. She also served as a Sunday morning Greeter and member of the Bread Ministry. Music was a very important part of her life, and she began at a very young age singing in churches and on the local radio station gospel hour with the Bracey and Cook family. She enjoyed playing the piano and participating in school assemblies. She had a passion for caring, training and loving all family pets throughout her lifetime. She treasured time playing bridge with her Bridge Club friends for over forty years, and Tuesday Bridge at the Robertson County Senior Citizens Center.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Orian Bracey and Aline Cook Bracey, sister, Dorothy Bracey Poole, brother, Paul Bracey, Sr., sister-in-law, Pauline Pratt Bracey, and dearly loved nephew Paul (Dickie) Bracey, Jr.
She is survived by her son, Lynn Powell Empson (Cathy), daughter, Beverly Bracey Empson Corbin (Billy), grandchildren, Lauren Empson Head (Clint), Clint William Corbin (Ashley), Nicholas Powell Empson (Lisa), and Leah Bracey Corbin Palmore (Wesley), and nine great grandchildren, Sophie Claire Head, Dane William Corbin, Griffin Lane Head, Grady Peyton Corbin, Corbin James Palmore, Owen Carter Head, Natalie Bray Palmore, Blake Landon Revlett and Cole Bryson Revlett. She is also survived by special nieces Paulette Bracey Duffer and Judy Bracey Parham.
Services will be held on Saturday May 13, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., at the Robertson County Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Dr. David Evans and Martin Babb. Honorary pallbearers will be the Serendipity Sunday School Class of Springfield Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home

Bill was born December 27, 1948, in Louisville, KY to the late William and Catherine Conder Sr. He was a heavy equipment salesman for many years.

John Thomas “Johnny” Stack, Sr., age 67, of Cedar Hill, Tennessee, died Saturday, May 6, 2023, at his home.
His remains will be cremated and no services are planned at this time.
Mr. Stack was born on December 5, 1955, in Clarksville, Tennessee, to the late James & Mary Law Stack. He was an owner/operator of Stack’s Grocery and had also been a substitute mail carrier. He enjoyed golfing and was a huge UT, Titans, and Braves fan.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Stack.
Survivors include his sons, John Stack, Jr. and Jacob Stack; sister, Betty Jo Cross; and mother of his children, Pam Brooksher Stack.

Age 73 of White House passed away Friday, May 5, 2023 at his home. He was born December 2, 1949 in Nashville, TN to Robert Hunter & Frances Ruth Ford Hawkins. He was retired from the Metro Nashville Fire Department with 35 years of service. He renovated and built houses and storage sheds. He enjoyed working on his old Ford truck, supporting Vanderbilt athletics and attending sporting events for his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles T. Hawkins; sister, Carolyn Propes. He is survived by his son Bryan (Wendy) Hawkins, Hendersonville, TN; daughter, Ashley (Rusty) Dugan, White House, TN; sisters, Nancy WIlliams, Huntsville, AL, Betty (Jim) Lee, Nappa VIne, WA and Mai Thacker, Hermitage, TN; 6 grandchildren, Brayden, Hunter, Bailey, Mallorie, Meredith and Madeline.

Age 28 of Springfield passed away Friday, May 5, 2023 in Nashville. He was born July 14, 1994 in Nashville, TN to Edward Earl Jones, III and Crystal Dawn Quarles. He loved skateboarding and fishing. Blake was a member of Aberdeen First Baptist Church in Aberdeen, NC. A very blessed time in his life was in 2005 when he was able to lead his father to Jesus. His Dad now serves in ministry.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Joyce Quarles. Funeral services will be conducted at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View at 1:00PM on Wednesday, May 10th with Bro. Barry Throneberry and Bro. Joe Rushing officiating. Burial will follow in Bellwood Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00PM until 8:00PM and again on Wednesday from 11:00AM until the hour of service at 1:00PM.
Mrs. Winters was born on April 12, 1953 in Nashville, Tennessee to Clifford Gibson and the late Ruby Gibson. She began her teaching career in Davidson County, and then in Cheatham County at Pleasant View Elementary and Sycamore Middle School. She finished her career as a student teacher supervisor at Austin Peay State University for a total of 44 years in education. She was a member of Main Street Church of Christ.
In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by a brother, Mark Gibson.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband of 42 years, Rick Winters; son Matt Winters; daughter, Allison (Charlie) Jackson; sister, Donna (Bruce) Atkins; grandchildren, Leighton Ruby-Marie Jackson and Cooper James Jackson; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Sarah was born February 24, 1938, in Cross Plains, to the late William Harvey and Lillie Fisher Hulsey. She was a homemaker and worked mowing commercial grass for over 30 years. Sarah enjoyed fishing, listening to gospel music, and being with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Ronnie Bedwell, and by several siblings.

Frederick Beard, age 92, of Chapmansboro, Tennessee, died Thursday, May 4, 2023 at his home.
Mr. Beard was born on May 13, 1930, in London, England, to the late William & Harriet Beard. He was a veteran of the United Kingdom Army. He was a retired union carpenter in the construction business for over 30 years having received a gold watch for being in the union for 50 years. He was a crew member in drag racing and played the bagpipes. The proudest achievement for Mr. Beard and his wife, Christine, was that they both become United States citizens in the 1960’s.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Christine Beard; and his siblings.
Survivors include his son, David (Susan) Beard; daughter, Sara Beard; granddaughter, Taegen Beard; and a host of loving nieces and nephews in the United States and overseas.
His wishes were to be cremated, and there are no services are planned.

Mr. Armes was born June 24, 1944 in Adams, TN to the late Clyde Bronco Arms and Ada Bell Jones Arms. He worked for Auto Zone for many years, loved being a “PawPaw”, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Armes was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph Allen Arms, and Kenneth Arms; and a nephew, Allen Arms.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Donna Armes; son, Jason Wayne (Kelly) Armes; daughter, Kelly D. (Jason) Guy; 4 grandchildren, Jesse, Kaden, Kierra, and Jasmine; sister, Debra McEwing; and a nephew, Glenn Arms.

Ruby Lack Clinard Melton, age 94, of Greenbrier, passed away Monday, May 1, 2023 at NHC Springfield.
Funeral services were conducted at 11am Thursday, May 4th in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier with Bro. Billy Bowers officiating. Burial followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Mrs. Melton’s grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Mrs. Melton was born May 27, 1928, in Logan County, KY to the late John Lack and Geneva Crafton Lack. She was raised in Homer, Ky until she married Ollie Clinard in 1946. Four children were born to this union Judy, Linda Joyce, Randy, and Danny. They made their home in Homer, Ky and later moved to Orlinda, TN and then settling in Greenbrier. Mrs. Melton was a homemaker and loved to sing with her siblings in their gospel group The Lack Family. They traveled for years to different churches and events singing. After their brothers passed, the sisters, Ruby, Rosie and Lois kept singing together for many years. She was a member of Unity Free Will Baptist Church of White House.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Melton was preceded in death by her husbands, Ollie Clinard (1975) and Dave Melton (1979); son, Randy Clinard (2010); and daughter, Judy Gay (2000).
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Joyce (Jimmy) Estes of Greenbrier; and son Danny (Deana) Clinard of Pleasant View; grandchildren, Scott (Jennifer) Gay of Greenbrier, Sherry (Bob) Reed of Mountain Grove, MO, Steve (Katy) Gay of Englewood, Florida, John Clinard of Murray, Ky, Jordan and Joseph Clinard of Pleasant View; sisters, Rosie (Grady) Belcher, and Lois (Neal ) Taylor; 8 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.

James Howard “Pete” Riddle, age 84, of Greenbrier, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
Funeral services were conducted at 1pm Friday, May 5th in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier with Bishop Rodger Thaxton officiating. Burial followed in the Beech Cemetery in Hendersonville.
The family received friends from 10am until time of the service at 1pm Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Riddle was born March 6, 1939 in Nashville, TN to the late Eck and Martha Riddle. He was a Meat Cutter for Kroger Grocery Stores and a founding member and Deacon of Hendersonville Pentecostal Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Riddle was preceded in death by brothers, Horace Riddle and Bob Riddle; and sisters, Marie McClanahan, Louise McClanahan, Evelyn Carney and Darlene Carney.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eula Riddle; sons, Donnie Sanders, Kent (Loretta) Riddle, Steve (Terry) Riddle, and Bobby Riddle; 5 grandchildren, Chelsea, Brock, Ryan, Michael, and Cassie; and 1 great grandson, Waylon James.

Anne Mary Singleton (Gallagher), age 57, of White House, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, April 29th, 2023. Born on Earth Day, April 22nd, 1966, Anne loved gardening and making the world more beautiful with her green thumb. She worked for Robertson County School Nutrition and enjoyed serving the children of Greenbrier Middle School. Anne always had a way with children and treated every child as her own. She was funny, smart, and kind. Anne was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She made a difference in the lives of many and will be greatly missed.
Preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Gallagher, and brother, Paul Gallagher. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Les; her son Joshua House (Angela White); daughter Nicole Knight (Bobby Knight); daughter Traci House; stepdaughter Kimberly Stornes; grandson Landon Starnes; granddaughter Peyton Knight; sister Iris Knight; nieces Anne Marie and Erin Knight; along with many family members and friends.

Mrs. Cantwil was born on April 6, 1937, in Toledo, OH to the late Arthur and Lucille Foreman Goralske. She retired as the secretary for Columbus Equipment. JoAnn loved to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors while swinging and watching the birds. Obituary for William Medford Keith
William Medford Keith, 91, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday April 25, 2023, at The Waters of Springfield.
Graveside services were conducted Monday May 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Owens Chapel Cemetery with Tim Harris officiating. The family received friends at the graveside service on Monday.
Mr. Keith was born November 5, 1931, in Springfield. He was President and co-owner of Keith Circle Steel, was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, and was a former member of Western Star Lodge in Springfield. Mr. Keith enjoyed picture painting, and both bird and wildlife watching. He was preceded in death by his wife: Jean Groves Keith, by his father: L.O. Keith, by his mother: Goldie West Fuqua, by his brothers: Biddie, Maxie, and Don Keith, and by his sister: Margie Keith Simmons.
Mr. Keith is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Steve and Kathy Keith of Springfield, by his daughter and son-in-law: Jo Keith Hunter and Charles Hunter of Whites Creek, and by his sisters: Marie Keith Choate of Springfield, and Opal Keith Rush of Houston, TX.

Obituary for Edna Mae Mayton
Age 87 of White House went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at her home. She was born January 1, 1936 in Johnson City, TN to John Madison & Delzia Irene Green Duncan. She was retired from AT&T, where she worked in the ICSC Department at the time of her retirement. She was a member of Berean Baptist Church. She enjoyed eating out with family and friends, playing BINGO and attending church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry Mayton; son, Terry Lane; brothers, Raymond and Eugene; sisters Betty Jo and Virginia. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Browne, White House, TN; son, Jim Mayton, Springfield, TN; 6 grandchildren, Angie, Wesley, Misty, Kayla, Heather and Stephanie; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.
Funeral service was held 1pm Monday, May 1, 2023 in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House with Pastor Joe Lang officiating. Interment followed in White House Memorial Gardens with Wesley Lane, Nathaniel Scates, Bradley Wells, Bryan Keen, Rocky Brown and Coty Lowe serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family was Sunday, April 30, 2023 4-8PM and Monday, May 1, 2023 10am until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
