In Wake Of Nashville Bombing, Robertson 911 Center Sets Up Citizen Emergency Communication Tool

ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The Robertson County 911 dispatch Center has something new. It’s called CodeRED and it will allow the center to notify the public of 911 outages, missing persons, evacuations and other life-threatening emergencies. For an incident such as the explosion in Nashville on Christmas Day, CodeRED would allow the center to communicate alternate numbers directly to residents who have subscribed to receive the information.

“The service is offered free of charge to all residents of Robertson County,” said Jason L. Pentecost, Assistant Director Robertson County E-911. You can apply below.

Following the extensive and thorough evaluation and review of mass emergency alerting systems, the Robertson County 911 District has implemented the CodeRED system, a high-speed emergency notification service provided by OnSolve, based in Ormond Beach, Florida. Public safety officials across the United States have credited CodeRED notifications for saving lives, including locating missing children, apprehending wanted criminals, and issuing timely evacuations.

The CodeRED system will serve as the backbone of the Robertson County 911 District’s emergency planning and communications outreach. The platform will allow the Robertson County 911 Center to communicate with residents and personnel by sending telephone calls, text messages, emails, posts to social media and mobile app messages to inform residents of emergencies and better protect life and property. CodeRED was selected for its reliability and accuracy, as well as the system’s widespread usage across North America.

“CodeRED’s robust system will provide Robertson County 911 officials with a reliable, easy-to use technology to enhance our emergency preparedness plans,” said Director Rachael Payne. We anticipate using the system to notify residents of major incidents affecting public safety including but not limited to flooding, hazardous material incidents, evacuations, and major gas leaks. It will also be used to alert residents about missing children or elderly/endangered adults and 911 outages.

The Robertson County 911 District has also purchased the CodeRED Weather Warning system, an automated weather warning technology that delivers phone calls, text messages, and emails to registered residents and businesses within the direct path of severe weather. The CodeRED Weather Warning system is an opt-in service that automatically notifies those enrolled of tornado, flash flood, and severe thunderstorm warnings just moments after an alert is issued by the National Weather Service (NWS).
