It’s Time to Bring Trusted Emergency Care to White House

– By Billy S. Hobbs (Founding Mayor)

As the founding mayor of White House, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing our town’s growth from its early days to the thriving community it is today.

With that growth, however, comes a critical need—one that we can no longer afford to ignore. The proposal for a TriStar Health freestanding emergency room in White House is long overdue. Our residents deserve better access to emergency care, and it’s time we brought that care closer to home.

TriStar Health is the right choice for this new facility. For decades, the people of White House have trusted them with their care. Many of us have come to know their doctors, nurses, and staff as our own. They are a known and trusted entity in our community, with a proven record of delivering high-quality care using top-of-the-line medical equipment.

It only makes sense to continue that relationship by locating their new emergency room here in White House, where our residents are already familiar with the quality of care TriStar Health provides.

The growth of White House and surrounding areas like Cross Plains, Cottontown, Millersville, and both eastern and western parts of Robertson and Sumner counties has far exceeded the availability of adequate healthcare. The need for emergency services has only increased as our community expands, yet we remain underserved. Having a freestanding ER right here in White House would not only serve our residents but also our neighbors in these rapidly growing areas.

By contrast, the alternative applicant simply isn’t the preferred choice for most of our residents. They are marketing their proposal under the Ascension Saint Thomas brand, but this facility would be operated by Sumner Regional Medical Center—a name that doesn’t hold the same level of trust in White House as TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center.

Our community already overwhelmingly chooses TriStar Health for its emergency needs, with almost eight in ten ER visits going to the TriStar Health facilities. Why gamble on an option that’s less trusted when we can continue with a provider that has consistently delivered quality care to our families?

While I respect any organization that wants to improve healthcare access, we need a provider that understands our community’s unique needs and has already earned our trust. TriStar Health has a long history of serving our area and is the best choice to provide emergency services to our families. Our region deserves nothing less than the trusted, high-quality care that TriStar Health is known for.

As our community continues to grow, we must ensure that our healthcare options grow with us. Our residents deserve access to the best care, and they shouldn’t have to drive miles out of their way to receive it.

I strongly encourage the approval of TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center’s application. Our community has long trusted TriStar for our medical needs, and a new ER right here in White House would provide our residents with convenient, immediate access to care in times of need.

Let’s bring emergency care closer to home. Let’s continue our partnership with TriStar Health and build a healthier, safer future for White House and the surrounding communities.
