Millersville Parts Ways with Fire Chief Matt Stewart After Less Than a Year
MILLERSVILLE: TENNESSEE, Smokey Barn News – Millersville Fire Chief Matt Stewart was officially let go from his position Monday afternoon, according to City Attorney Bryant Kroll. Stewart, who had served as fire chief for just under a year, was informed of the decision during a 2 p.m. meeting. Stewart told Smokey Barn News this afternoon that he was told that the city will be “moving in another direction.”
In a statement shared with Smokey Barn News, Stewart expressed his gratitude and support for the Millersville community:
“At 2 p.m. today I was notified that the city of Millersville would be moving in another direction, and my position as fire chief would be terminated, effective immediately. As I clear out my desk and start the search for new work, and possibly a new home, I pray for the citizens of Millersville to have patience and understanding during this time. I want to thank everyone for their support and efforts over the past year. I wish the city good luck and safety in all its future dealings.” – Matt Stewart
Kroll also indicated that Millersville citizens can be confident that fire and medical services will remain uninterrupted during this transition.
While the city has confirmed the termination of Fire Chief Matt Stewart, Acting City Manager Bryan Morris, who also serves as the police chief, is currently out of town. As a result, a formal statement regarding the future plans for the Millersville Fire Department may be issued later this evening or tomorrow.
