Micki Hutchison Hopkins, 65, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday February 23, 2025, at NHC Healthcare in Springfield. Her remains will be cremated and no services are scheduled at this time.

Micki was born December 20, 1959, in Springfield. She worked as an assembly manager at Professional Bags and was of the Baptist faith. She loved playing bingo and watching TV. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. You never had to guess where she stood on any topic, because she always spoke her mind and told you exactly what she was thinking. She was preceded in death by her father: Henry Hutchison, by her mother: Mary Lou Adams Matthews, and by her siblings: Brenda Hutchison Pitts, Ronnie, Eddie, and Bobo Hutchison.floral square

Carole (Buck) Evitts
February 18, 1952 ~ February 24, 2025 (age 73)

Carole Jane Buck Evitts, 73, of Springfield, passed away on Monday February 24, 2025. She was born in Hampton Station in Clarksville, TN on February 18, 1952, to the late James L. and Helen Arms Buck. Carole grew up in Robertson County and attended Bell Elementary School in Adams, and later attended East Jr. High School and then Hume Fogg High School.

Carole was of the Baptist faith, and was a devoted follower of her Savior Jesus Christ, who she loved with all her heart. Carole’s gift from God was helping others, from cooking and sharing meals, visiting the sick, to lending a helping hand wherever and whenever needed. If Carole was your friend, you had a true friend indeed whom you could depend on.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister: Mamie Buck Lundine, by her brother and sister-in-law: James Leslie “Jim” and Betty Wix Buck, by her grandparents: Ed and Mamie Buck, Charles and Beaula Arms, by two beloved nephews: Wayne and Kirk Lundine and a beloved niece: Brenda Suzzette Lundine. Carole is survived by sons: Richard (Lindsey) Evitts, Daniel Evitts, and Joshua (Kimberly) Evitts, by her daughter: Stacie (Patrick) Burks, by her brother: Ron (Mary) Buck of Franklin, by her sister: Ann Buck Ethridge of McEwen, by her nieces: Vickie Ethridge and Eric, Teresa Lundine, by her nephews: Rick “Beefy” Ethridge and Mandy Fielder, James Robert Buck, and Eric Jeffrey Buck, by her grandsons: Spencer, Carter, and Taylor Burks, by her granddaughter: Madilyn Evitts, by her great niece: Kim Lundine and Jake Speck, Miranda Sizemore and Jason, and by her great nephews: Cliff Shawd, Anthony Martin (Kayla Sanders), and Michael Lundine.floral square

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be conducted Saturday March 8th at 12 noon in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating. There will be a private family committal next to her parents in Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville. The family will receive friends on Saturday March 8th from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the Robertson County Funeral Home.

Carole’s family wishes to extend a special thanks to Heart N Soul Hospice, as well as Merideth, Alycia, Janet, and Kate. They were a blessing to Carole, as well as our family.

Virgina Shorter
July 7, 1943 — February 23, 2025

Virgina Olline Shorter, a loving wife and mother who was a dedicated LPN for over 36 years passed away on February 23, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on July 7, 1943, Virgina’s life was a testament to her unwavering commitment to her family and her profession. She graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, beginning a career where she made a profound impact at Madison Hospital/Tennessee Christian Hospital, providing compassionate care to countless patients.

Virgina was not only dedicated to her work but also adored her time with family. She is survived by her beloved children, Rhonda Shorter and Tracy (Mikki) Shorter, and her cherished grandchildren, Brittany Jeffiers, Danny Rakes, and TJ Shorter. Her great-grandchildren, Jett and Maverick Jeffiers. All who lovingly referred to her as Grandma.

She is also remembered affectionately by her brother, Roy Hudgins, and her aunt Doris Stevenson, who were treasured parts of her life.

Virgina had love for adventure and a passion for travel. She always sought to see new destinations and experience the local culture, with a special fondness for going to the beach. These experiences enriched her life and contributed to the memories she created with her family.

In addition to her many accomplishments, Virgina held dear the legacy of her late husband of nearly 60 years, Ron Shorter, affectionately known as Grandpa, whose memory remains a significant part of her story. She also remembered her parents, Joe and Mary Hudgins, and her siblings, Peggy Giardono, Millie Anderson, and Dennis Hudgins, who have all preceded her in death.floral square

In her later years Virginia became a true “foodie”, some of her favorites were a burger, chocolate shake, Lay’s Lightly Salted chips and Oreo Thins for dessert. She was adamant about sharing all food with her bed buddies, the precious Chihuahua’s.

Virgina Shorter will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know her. Her legacy of love, compassion, and commitment to family will remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Maurice Ray Briggs

Maurice Ray Briggs, a beloved figure in the community and a devoted family man, passed away on February 27, 2025, at the age of 96. He was born the son his late father Ira Lusky Briggs and late mother Lorain Blanch Leftwich Briggs on April 7, 1928 in Greenbriar, TN. Maurice led a life marked by kindness, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to his family and friends.

Maurice enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a manager at H.G. Hills, serving the company with pride for 40 years. His kind and soft-spoken nature endeared him to many, as he never met a stranger. He was known for the countless connections he made throughout his life; it was not uncommon for him to engage with someone he knew wherever he went. He was a generous, selfless loving person who showed it on a daily basis. A person you could always rely on.

A proud member of the United States Marines and a veteran of World War II, Maurice exemplified the values of courage and service. His military background was an integral part of his identity, shaping his character and values throughout his life.

He was a long time dedicated member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he served as a loyal and dedicated deacon for ever 50 years.

In his younger years, Maurice delighted in the simple joys of fishing, hunting, gardening, raising cattle, camping, and farming; pursuits that brought him great pleasure and cherished memories.

Maurice is proceded in death by his loving and dedicated wife Juanita Pruit Briggs of 66 years. He is also preceded in death by his brothers Bobby Briggs, Vernon Briggs, and Milton Kemp Briggs, his sisters Edna Ruth Kirby, Betty Callis, Mildred Carr, and Fay Adcock, and his parents Ira and Lorain Briggs.

He is survived by his children Gary Briggs and Lisa Briggs Hale (Ed), his grandchildren Brian Hale (Elyse), David Hale (Rachael), and Lindsay Hale Bonnell (Lucus), and his great grandchildren William Hale, Brady Hale, Holland Hale, Ezra Hale, and Levi Bonnell. Maurice is also survived by his siblings Beverly Scurlock, Judy Morris, and Jerry Briggs, as well as many cousins and nephews.

The family would also like to extend a thank you to Ms. Diana Brass, Mr. Briggs long time care giver.

Donna Lynn Pond
September 19, 1959 — February 28, 2025
Atoka, TN

Donna Lynn Pond, age 65, of Atoka, TN went to join the Lord on February 28th, 2025. Donna was born in Austin, TX to the late Joyce and Ralph Ogle on September 19th, 1959. She is preceded in death by her parents, as well as several aunts and uncles. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 42 years, Ritchie Pond. Their anniversary being in April. Donna leaves behind her children Cory (Anna) Pond and Caleb Pond, and her grandchildren Ollie and Aubrey Pond. She is also survived by her siblings Kathy (Mitch) Withers and James Ogle, her aunts Eunice Sorrow, Linda Woodard, and Brenda Elder, as well as many nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

Donna was a woman of strength and resilience. Her father was a member of the armed forces. Born on a US Air Force base, she moved as her father transferred bases. She would settle with her mother in Middle Tennessee after her father’s tragic passing in 1967. Donna would go on to graduate from the Hendersonville High School Class of 1977 and begin her career in banking. For 20 years she would navigate the challenges and changes that the banking industry would go through. She would witness firsthand the beginning of the online banking world and diligently helped customers navigate the issues they faced. Challenging as it was, she was always able to find the light in hard moments, often laughing as she remembered the struggles of dealing with dial-up internet.

Donna was a woman of strong Christian faith. She was a longtime member of the White House First United Methodist Church, serving several years as their church secretary, Sunday school teacher, and children’s director. Forever nurturing love and fostering respect in all of the children she crossed paths with. Donna and her husband were also members of the choir, together the two enjoyed worship through music together.

In her free time, she loved to spend time with her family. Her husband recalls her to be an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed decorating cakes in the kitchen with her family, teaching them recipes as they baked and decorated together, creating memories they will forever share. Although she is gone, she is not forgotten.floral square

A visitation for Mrs. Donna Pond will be held at Cole & Garrett – White House, located at 212 Hwy 76, White House, TN 37188, on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025, from 3pm until 8pm. On Wednesday, March 5th, 2025, we will gather at The First United Methodist Church, located at 3403 US-31W, White House, TN 37188, from 10am until 12pm, with our funeral services starting promptly at 12pm.

Bro. Frank Mac EvansBrother Frank Mac Evans, age 95, of Smyrna, formerly of Springfield, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Adam’s Place Rehabilitation Center in Murfreesboro. Funeral services were conducted at 2pm Friday, February 28th at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Randy Harmon, Bro. Robert Tyson and Bro. H. D. Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with the Deacons of Rock Springs Baptist serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 4-7pm Thursday at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield, and again from 12-2pm Friday at the church.

Brother Evans was born March 22, 1929, in Detroit, MI, to the late Sion Everette Evans, and the late Cora Corinne McMillen Evans. He spent his life sharing the gospel having Pastored at Oakland Baptist, Flintville Baptist, and Bethel Baptist churches. Bro. Frank then served as the Director of Missions with the Robertson County Baptist Association until his retirement. Following his retirement he continued to answer the call to ministry and went on to Pastor at Rock Springs Baptist for 17 years.

Roaena HamRoaena Bedwell Ham, age 87 of Cleveland, TN and formerly of Robertson County, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at her home. Visitation with the family was held held Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 11am until 2pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier.

A graveside service will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Franklin, TN at 3pm.

Mrs. Ham was born December 25, 1937 to Glenn and Mabel Thacker Bedwell, she was the oldest of her siblings. She met and married Bobby Joe Ham and they had three daughters.

Mrs. Ham loved so many things, one of which was bowling. Her average was over 190 when she retired, plus she was swinging a 16-pound ball at only 5’2”. Cards were another hobby she was “cut throat” at. Playing the game of Rook, oh, baby, she was merciless with that Red One! She could make and sew anything from just looking at a picture. Her girls were the talk of the town with their handmade clothes. There were porcelain dolls and ceramics plus her word search, and of course, Atlanta baseball games, and man, oh, man, she loved her LA Lakers basketball.

Mr. Hunter was born October 19, 1934, in Turnersville, to the late Thomas Ewing Hunter and the late Helen Louise Kirby Hunter. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a custom cabinet maker, and a true family man. His life revolved around his family.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hunter was preceded in death by daughters, Frances Diane Hunter, and Janice Gail Hunter-Whiting; grandchildren, P.J. Murphey, and Mindy Hutchison; his brother, James Wilburn Hunter; and brother-in-law, Don Zukoski.

She was born January 31, 1973 in Nashville to William Clayton and Billie Etoile Duke Hughes. She was a 1991 graduate of White House High School and worked for Gastroenterology and Hepatology Associates. Shellie was a beautiful Christian, who loved the Lord. She daily followed the first two great commandments given by the Lord, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. She enjoyed bible study with her sisters every Thursday night and watching Life Center services on-line.

She enjoyed all kinds of music, but especially loved listening to gospel music and crafting with diamond painting. More than anything she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. Shellie is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 14-1/2 years, Jesse Brooks, Cottontown, TN; sons, Jared Tankersley, Millersville, TN, Hunter McHenry, Cottontown, TN, Chris Brooks, Cottontown, TN and Joshua Brooks, Bowling Green, KY; daughter, Mollie Harlan, Bowling Green, KY; sisters, Sherrie (Richard) Lane, Shirley Hughes and Susan (Doyle) James, all of White House, TN; nephews, Colton James, Aaron Lane and Adam (Lauren) Lane; niece, Tracie (Tommy) Gilbert; great- nephews, Lincoln James and Hayden James; her beloved beagles, Sissy and Bailey.floral square

Memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday March 5, 2025 in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House at 7PM with Colton James officiating. Visitation is planned for Wednesday March 5, 2025 from 4-7PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are encouraged to the Nashville Rescue Mission. Terry Williams
December 4, 1958 – February 8, 2025

Terry WilliamsIt is with great sadness that the family of Terry Thomas Williams announces his passing February 8, 2025 at the age of 66 years.
He was a loving and caring father, grandfather, sibling, and son. He was a genuine and authentic friend to many. Terry will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his sons, Sean Williams, Adam Williams, Daniel (Bianca) Williams; grandchildren, D.J.Williams and Lennox Williams; siblings, Claudia (Rick) Archer, Herb Williams Jr., Michael (Kathy) Williams, Teresa (PeeWee) Valentine, Kelly (Howard) Staggs and Grace Broyles, along with many nieces and nephews and friends he knew as family.

He is preceded in death by his father, “Coach” Herbert Claude Williams, Sr.; his mother, Mary Catherine Etter Williams; his brother, Andrew Williams; and his sister, Mary C. Williams.

Terry was born in Nashville, TN. He graduated from Father Ryan Highschool in 1977. He spent more than 35 years in the printing industry, where he truly cherished the trade. Many of his coworkers would describe him as being honest, encouraging, accountable, meticulous, and sarcastic. After mastering several different positions over the years, he decided it was time to retire in 2023. He lived a relaxing retirement enjoying the care for plants, creating a jungle of his own in no time. He was certainly the life of the party and so much fun to be around. He was excited and prepared, anytime for a good day of fishing. Raiders football is one thing that did not go missed on the calendar. Raider Nation!
