On the frontlines: Veteran ER physician Sees Need for Proposed TriStar White House ER

WHITE HOUSE, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – With over three decades of experience in emergency medicine, Dr. Duane E. Harrison, the ER Medical Director at TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center, has witnessed firsthand the importance of timely care in life-threatening situations.

Now, as the proposal for a new freestanding emergency room is considered, Dr. Harrison is lending his support to the project, emphasizing its necessity for the growing town.

“As an ER physician, I’ve seen how every minute counts in an emergency,” Dr. Harrison said. “Having an emergency room in White House means that residents won’t have to face the added stress and risk of traveling farther in critical moments. This facility could be the difference between life and death.”

Dr. Harrison, a graduate of Meharry Medical College School of Medicine in Nashville, has been on the frontlines at TriStar Hendersonville for years, where he’s observed the increasing demand for emergency services from surrounding communities, like White House. He understands the need for expanded access to care as the town continues to grow rapidly.

“The population of White House has more than doubled since 2000, yet the nearest ER is still miles away,” Dr. Harrison noted. “Our goal with this new facility is to bring high-quality, immediate care to where it’s needed most. This isn’t just a convenience—it’s a critical healthcare advancement for the people here.”

The proposed emergency room, to be located at the intersection of Raymond Hirsch Parkway and Highway 31W, will feature 11 treatment and exam rooms, a trauma room, and a comprehensive imaging department. It’s designed to handle a full spectrum of emergencies, from heart attacks and strokes to injuries requiring immediate attention.

“White House residents already trust TriStar Health with their emergency care—almost eight in ten of their ER visits are to TriStar Health facilities,” Dr. Harrison said. “We’re bringing that care closer to them, so they can have peace of mind knowing that help is just minutes away.”

For Dr. Harrison, the proposed facility isn’t just another medical building—it’s a vital resource that will serve the community he’s dedicated his career to helping. “Emergency medicine is about being there when it matters most,” he emphasized. “With this new ER, we’ll be able to provide faster, more effective care, right here in White House.

“That’s what the community deserves, and that’s why this project is so important.”

As the project moves forward, Dr. Harrison encourages the White House community to support the new ER, understanding the impact it will have on their health and safety. For more information about the proposed White House ER and to show your support, visit TriStarWhiteHouseER.com.
