Springfield Fire Department Gets New Engine
SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – On Monday, December 23, 2024, the Springfield Fire Department hosted a special ceremony at Fire Station 1, located at 203 Central Avenue, to welcome its latest addition: a new fire truck. The event brought together firefighters, city officials, and residents for a traditional “truck wash” and “push-in” ceremony.
The celebration kicked off with the symbolic washing of the truck, a ritual representing the vehicle’s readiness to serve the community. Firefighters were joined by local children and attendees in this hands-on activity, marking the fire truck’s official start with the department.
Following the wash, participants observed a long-standing tradition by manually pushing the fire truck into the station. This practice, rooted in the days of horse-drawn fire apparatus, signifies the truck’s formal integration into the department’s fleet.
The new fire truck, a state-of-the-art vehicle valued at $849,089, features advanced technology and enhanced capabilities, enabling the department to handle fires, rescues, medical calls, and other emergencies more effectively.
“The addition of this fire truck is a significant milestone for our department and our community,” said Springfield Fire Chief Jeff Glodoski. “It enhances our ability to serve and protect our residents, ensuring that we have the tools needed to respond to emergencies efficiently and safely. We are proud of this tradition and excited to see this new truck in action.”
This addition to the department reflects its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of public safety and emergency response. The fire truck will immediately begin active service, strengthening the department’s ability to protect Springfield residents.
