Springfield Moves Christmas Parade Date & Winter Wonderland Info
SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Big news in Springfield, the city has moved the Christmas Parade forward to December 2nd.
For years Springfield held their Christmas Parade on the weekend before Thanksgiving. According to Springfield City Manager Ryan Martin, the city decided to move the parade forward to more align with the opening of Winter Wonderland. Some years ago Springfield adjusted the time of their Christmas parade also, going from mid-afternoon to an after-dark lighted parade. Here’s a link to last year’s.
“I am excited that we are kicking Christmas off with our parade and the opening of Winter Wonderland all in the same night,” said Springfield Mayor Ann Schneider Williams. Come join us for a magical night in Springfield.
Springfield’s annual lighted (nighttime) Christmas Parade will start at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2nd in downtown Springfield. Local resident and Fox 17 News anchor Jennifer Waddell will be the parade grand marshal.
The lighted Christmas Parade provides businesses, schools, bands, and organizations the opportunity to showcase their community spirit and holiday joy by preparing a float or driving in a decorated vehicle. Participants are encouraged to embrace this year’s “Winter Wonderland” theme through music, dress, and decorations.
Registration is available online through November 26. Pre-registration is required for all participants. The entry to participate is at least one new, unwrapped toy per ten (10) parade participants. The toys will benefit Kiwanis for Kids.
Following the parade…….Winter Wonderland!
The public is invited to join with friends and neighbors to celebrate the opening of Winter Wonderland’s 23rd year at J. Travis Price Park by Springfield’s Parks & Recreation Department.
