White House Mayor Says: “No More Shovels in the Ground Till It’s Fixed”

WHITE HOUSE, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Heavy rains moved through Robertson County today, exposing ongoing flooding problems in parts of White House, particularly near new residential developments. Some residents say this has been an issue for three years, and they’ve had enough.

The Mayor agrees, telling Smokey Barn News, “No more shovels in the ground until it’s fixed.”

Frustrated homeowners told Smokey Barn News that every time there’s heavy rain, their properties flood, and despite repeated concerns, the problem remains unresolved. White House Mayor John Corbitt, who said he’s had flooding problems in his basement, agrees the issue has gone on too long and says the city is taking action.

“We had a heavy rainstorm roll in late this afternoon/early this evening. We have reports of serious flooding issues all over the city. Many of the issues appear to be related to nearby residential development. Crews will be out tomorrow to assess the situation. Where appropriate, stop work orders in these developments will be issued immediately. There won’t be a shovel allowed in the ground until the issues are resolved. Citizens deserve better, and we WILL get this fixed,” Corbitt said.

City crews will begin assessing the damage and identifying problem areas tomorrow. Stay with Smokey Barn News for updates.
