FILM PRODUCTION TO STAGE “EMERGENCY” SCENE AT FARMERS BANK IN SPRINGFIELD TONIGHT

ROBERTSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) — Residents in and around Springfield may see what appears to be a major emergency response at the Farmers Bank on Tom Austin Highway this evening, but local officials say there is no cause for alarm — it is all part of a movie being filmed in Middle Tennessee.

Robertson County EMS announced Saturday that a staged filming scene will take place at the Farmers Bank location on Tom Austin Highway, just west of Memorial Boulevard, beginning around 6 p.m. and continuing through the overnight hours, possibly until 4 a.m. Sunday morning.

According to EMS, the scene will involve staged emergency vehicles, actors, and other film production activity meant to simulate an emergency situation. Officials say the production team notified them in advance, and they are working to inform the public so no one mistakes the filming for a real disaster.

The scene is part of the independent film Boot Lake, which is currently in production across Nashville and surrounding areas, including Robertson County.

According to the filmmakers, Boot Lake is a psychological, character-driven thriller born from a first-of-its-kind collaborative storytelling initiative known as the “100 Pages Project,” in which 100 writers each contributed one page to the screenplay. The project was developed by co-executive producers Marcus Johns, Christian Del Grosso, and Darrick Landreneau.

The film marks the directorial debut of Christian Del Grosso, a social media influencer with over 15 million followers and more than 10 billion views across various platforms.

Del Grosso said, “This project marks a new chapter for me. I’ve spent years telling stories in short form, but directing Boot Lake challenged me in entirely new ways. The 100 Pages Project and stepping into my first feature have been among the most rewarding creative experiences of my career.”

The film features a multi-generational ensemble cast including Willow Shields (The Hunger Games), Nikki Roumel (Ginny & Georgia), Sebastian Amoruso (Avatar: The Last Airbender), Cathy Moriarty, James Patrick Stuart (General Hospital), D.B. Sweeney (Megalopolis), Martin Kove (Cobra Kai), Jesse Kove (Cobra Kai), and Alexa PenaVega (Spy Kids).

Producers say the project is part of a broader effort to build a film production presence in Tennessee, drawing inspiration from regional filmmaking models in places like Austin and Charleston.

Smokey Barn News has also captured video of earlier filming activity in downtown Springfield near 7th Avenue, showing some of the production in action.

Residents who see flashing lights, emergency vehicles, or large film crews around Farmers Bank this evening are reminded that it is a planned movie shoot and not a real emergency.
