Driver Finds Toddler Walking On Greenbrier Rd In The Rain

JOELTON TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A Robertson County man was driving on Greenbrier Rd Friday afternoon on his way home from work. He was listening to Christmas music when something in the road caught his eye.

The Robertson County man, who wished to be anonymous, told Smokey Barn News that he saw something up ahead on the road but he wasn’t sure what it was.  “In the distance with the rain, it looked like it might be a bag of garbage, then I thought it might be an animal but as I got closer I realized it was a child!”

The child turned out to be a 2-year-old little boy that somehow escaped from a nearby home. As you can see in the dashcam video, as the driver pulled up, the child ran right to him. The driver held the child while another driver called 911.

The family realized the child had gone missing and came quickly. The Good Samaritan decided to let Metro Nashville Police handle the handoff to mom and dad.

The incident occurred around 4:20 pm on Greenbrier Rd about a mile from White’s Creek Pike. MAP

We asked the driver if he thought of himself as a hero. “No, but I rarely go home that way, it felt like divine intervention”.

Greenbrier Rd is well traveled and with the rainy weather today the little boy was lucky that the man behind the wheel had his eyes clearly on the road. The family will likely have to answer a few questions and may even get a visit from DCS but that is a small price to pay for the safe return of your child.
