Obituary for Patrick O’Neal Smith
Patrick O’Neal Smith entered this earthly life on May 27, 1967 in Sylva, North Carolina to the late Dimple Smith, Jr. and to the late Mary Ann Fort. Later in life, he moved to Springfield, Tennessee. He departed this life home for his Heavenly Home on October 3, 2021.
He was educated in the Robertson County School System. At an early age, he professed a hope in Christ at New Wells Grove Baptist Church. Later he joined Beards Chapel Baptist Church.
He was a dedicated Father. He loved to cook and fish. He was employed by the Shoals Company in Portland, Tennessee.
He leaves to cherish his memories: two children, A’Aliyah Smith, DeAndre Turner both of Springfield, TN; one sister, Deloris (Dobbie) Smith of Springfield, TN; step-sisters, Danielle Fort of Indianapolis, IN, Angela Fort of Russellville, KY; step-brother, James Fort of Nashville, TN; grandmother, Beulah J. Lunsford; six aunts, and five uncles; one niece, four nephews and a host of cousins and friends; special friends, Reggie Darden, and Adrian Moody (Nellie B. Smith), and a special devoted friend, Debbie Shannon.
Family Visitation and Memorial Service was Saturday, November 6, 2021 at W. D. Crowder Funeral Home.

Obituary for Stephen Holman Babb
Stephen Holman Babb, 69, of the Barren Plains community in Springfield, passed away on Sunday October 3, 2021, at his home. There will be a visitation with the family on Saturday October 9th from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home. A private family burial will be held in Springfield Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Babb was born November 5, 1951, in Springfield, to the late Miller F. and Sarah Holman Babb. He was a retired Powder Coater with Holley Carburetor, and he was a member of Barren Plains Baptist Church. Mr. Babb enjoyed hunting and fishing, as was an avid Alabama fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Miller Wayne Babb, and by his sister: Lucretia Ann Babb.
Mr. Babb is survived by his daughter: Heather Babb Wilkerson and her husband Andy Wilkerson of Cedar Hill, by his son: Heath Babb of Springfield, and by his grandchildren: Braxton Eden, Hannah Marie Eden, Hannah Leigh Marlin Thompson, and Kensley Babb.

Obituary for De’andra “Dee” Shana Nicole Long
On October 3, 2021, God called home His daughter, De’andra “Dee” Shana Nicole Long. She was born on February 21, 1999, in Springfield, to Jacqueline Doss and Toby Long. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday October 9th at 12 noon in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill with her cousins and classmates serving as pallbearers, honorary pallbearers, and flower bearers. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Dee was educated in the Robertson County school system. She graduated in the Springfield High School Class of 2018. Through out those years, Dee has impacted so many students, teachers, and their lives. De’Andra was loved by everyone she ever came in contact with.
Dee was preceded in death by her grandmother, Joyce (Mama Joyce) Doss, by her great grandparents: L.W. and Dorothy Brewer, by her aunt: Dana Wilson, by her brother: Dontarius Long, and by a host of great aunts and uncles.
Dee leaves to cherish her memory her parents: Jacqueline (Santoria) Doss, Toby (Donna) Long, one sister: Da’Niaya Brown, six brothers: De’Marion Wynn, Nicholas Long, Kobe Terry, Martez Long, Demetrez Barbee, and Daniel Elliott all of Springfield, two nieces: Araya Long and Addalyn Elliott, nephew: Zayne Long, aunts: Carolyn (Fernando) Miles of Springfield, Joycelyn Doss of Clarksville, uncle: Marcus (Yetta) Brewer of Springfield, a host of cousins: Fernandra, Fernando, De’Marcus, De’Andre, Samaree, and RaShad, a special friend that cared and lover her dearly: Addyson Bischoff.
We all loved her dearly, but God loved her best. Dee will truly be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Obituary for Betty Lou Walker Byrne
Betty Lou Walker Byrne, 74, of Springfield, passed from this life on Sunday October 3, 2021, at The Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday October 7th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Betty was born February 8, 1947, in Chula Vista, CA to Mary Gwendolynn Mosby Walker and the late Richard Robert Walker. Betty was a homemaker but had also worked in years past at Nashville Photo and the Piggly Wiggly/H.G. Hills in Springfield. She was a member of Walkers United Methodist Church in Goodlettsville. Betty loved gardening and working in her yard and flowers, doing needlepoint, and collecting stuffed animals. In her earlier years, she enjoyed riding horses and was a former Barrel Horseback Racer at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband: Don Byrne, by her son: Emitt Logan Keith, by her daughter: April Lee Quick, and by her sister: Mary Belle Jarrett. Betty is survived by her mother: Gwen Mosby Walker of Joelton, by her niece: Nicole Davis, by her granddaughter: Rachel Narveaz, by her great grandchildren: Disafian and Emmylou Narveaz, and by her dear friends: Rick Meadows and Shirley Duffer both of Springfield.

Cynthia Rae Miller, 59, of Springfield, passed from this life on Sunday October 3, 2021, at TriStar North Crest Medical Center. Her wishes were to be cremated. Cynthia was born April 30, 1962, in Denver, CO, to her biological mother, Barbara Lucas, who preceded her in death. She had worked as an assistant manager of housekeeping at Springfield Inn. Cynthia enjoyed cooking, cleaning, and gardening. The loves of her life were the Denver Broncos, Mark Martin #6 with NASCAR, her animals, and each member of her family.
Cynthia is survived by her husband, that she loved so much, Dennis Miller of Springfield, by her son and daughter-in-law: Elliott and Kathryn Pomplun of Houston, TX, by her daughter and son-in-law: Tanya and Kenneth Jones of Springfield, by her adoptive mother: Ruan Pohlman of Stanton, Nebraska, by her brother: Scott Pohlman of Davey, Nebraska, by her sisters: Kim Short of Virginia and Leanne Freeman-Besmer of Nebraska, and by her grandchild: Logan Unrine.

Jerry Lynn Hardison, age 61 of Woodlawn, TN, passed from this life on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Vanderbilt Health. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Tyler Tibbs and Reverend Vicki Patton officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Tommy Porter, Darren Hallman, Eric Pulley, Josh Morris, Chris Miller, Jacob Fuqua, William Gass, and Eric Gass serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Freddie Edwards, Mike Byrum, David Bond, Jimmy Estes, and Anthony Morris. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 4 until 8 PM and Tuesday from 10 AM until the hour of service.
Jerry was born August 12, 1960 in Springfield to the late Thad Ray and Dorothy Louise Bagby Hardison. He was of the Baptist faith and had been attending Woodlawn Church of the Nazarene. He was a truck driver and enjoyed his time farming. In his leisure time he loved horseback riding, driving country roads, watching wildlife, and grilling and barbecuing for his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Carlisle.
He is survived by his wife Lesa Hardison of Woodlawn; daughters and sons-in-law, Samantha and Justin Hall of Cedar Hill, Anna and Chris Leftrick of Springfield, Ashley and Josh Bogle of Stuart, VA, and Amanda and Greg Roath of Freeport, LA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and Charles Redfern of Cedar Hill, Jean Clinard of Springfield, Sue Adams of Cedar Hill, Wanda and Ronnie Clinard of Springfield, Lucille and Jack Foy of Waynesboro, VA, and Tina Hardison of Springfield; 11 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.

Carline Payne was born in Springfield, Tennessee to Carl Lee Payne and Mary Ellen Dowlen on September 6, 1958. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ellen Dowlen; her father, Carl Lee Payne; her brothers, Eric Carl Payne and Ricky Payne.
She attended the Robertson County School System. Carline accepted Christ at an early age at Second Missionary Baptist Church in Ashland City, Tennessee.
She worked for Elm Hurst Nursing Home for twenty -plus years.
On October 2, 2021 she departed this life.

Barry Keith Lovvorn, 61, of Greenbrier, passed away on Thursday September 30, 2021, at TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center.

Barry was born July 22, 1960, in Duluth, Minnesota to Sam E. and Lillie Wells Lovvorn. He worked at Martinrea in Springfield as a Control Engineer and was of the Baptist faith. Barry loved woodworking and being outdoors. His favorite hobby was being on his Harley and riding anywhere he wanted to go.
Barry is survived by his wife: Joyce Burton Lovvorn of Greenbrier, by his sons: Jeremy and Keith Lovvorn, by his stepdaughters: Stephanie (Michael) Waltz of Springfield, Stacey (T.J.) Slagle of Greenbrier, and by his 2 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.

Obituary for Orvice Jones Martin
Orvice Jones Martin, age 94 of Greenfield, IN and formerly of Pleasant View, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at NorthCrest Medical Center.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Providence Baptist Church in Coopertown with Pastor David Price officiating. Burial followed in Ever Rest of Cheatham with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family received friends at the church on Saturday from 10 AM until the hour of service.
Mr. Martin was born April 20, 1927 in Liberty, KY to the late Solomon and Mae Flossie Gention Martin. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked for many years in a grain mill end enjoyed doing woodwork and was a very good welder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two wives, Luedita Buckner Martin and Nancy Martin; and by his daughter, Sandra Martin.
He is survived by his sons, Albert Martin of Magnolia, OH and Chuck Martin of Greenfield, IN; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren.

Obituary for Reverend Wallace Denny Burchett
Reverend Wallace Denny Burchett, age 93 of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at NorthCrest Medical Center surrounded by his family.
He was born September 19, 1928 in Pembroke, KY to the late Ewing Caldwell Burchett, Sr. and Irene Denny Burchett. He graduated from Pembroke High School and missed his high school graduation to begin service in the Air Force. He served as ariel photographer and was located in Japan. After discharge, he attended Austin Peay State University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in education. He started his work career at Pembroke High School as a teacher and coach. He met his sweetheart, Barbara Bracey and they married May 30, 1954. In 1955 he was called to Ministry and was ordained at Pembroke Baptist Church in 1958. He attended the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY where he earned a master’s degree in divinity.
He served as a full-time Minister for 40 years in five Southern Baptist Churches located in northern Tennessee and southern Kentucky. Many he served as a teacher and/or principal in the local communities. Middleton Baptist Church, Middleton, KY; Walker Memorial Baptist Church, Franklin, TN; Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Orlinda, TN; Trinity Baptist Church, Hopkinsville, KY; and New Barren Springs Church, New Barren Springs, KY. He and his wife retired in Springfield, TN where he continued to serve for several years, at different times, as interim pastor for Cross Roads Baptist Church, Springfield, TN and assistant interim pastor at Middleton Baptist Church, Middleton, KY.
He has attended and been a member of Springfield Baptist Church for several years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Bracey Burchett; parents Ewing Caldwell Burchett, Sr. and Irene Denny Burchett; and brother Ewing Caldwell Burchett, Jr.
He is survived by his children, Anita (James) Marshall of Springfield, TN, Robert “Bubba” (Betty) Burchett of Clarksville, TN, and Lorri Burchett of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Robert (BJ) Burchett, Mandy (Justin) Willson, Bracey (Phil) Thomas, Jamee Marshall; and Emilio Burchett, greatgrandchildren, Ellie Thomas, Kyler Willson, Kinsley Willson, Charlotte Thomas, and Josiah Thomas; sister-in-law, Wanda Burchett; and nieces and nephews, Wally Burchett, Eddie (Theresia) Burchett, and James (Leslie) Burchett.
A Celebration of Life service was held Friday, October 1, 2021, at 2:00 PM in the auditorium of Springfield Baptist Church with Dr. David Evans officiating. The family received friends at the church on Friday from 10 AM until the hour of service. Graveside services will be held at a later date for the family only in Pembroke, KY.

Obituary for Lee Bailey Raines
Lee Bailey Raines, age 61, of Goodlettsville, passed away on September 27, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jere Raines and Della Coughlin; and a brother, Dan Raines.
He was a wonderful husband, father, and papa to his wife Beth Raines, children Adam, Jacob, and Hunter Raines, and grandchildren Peyton and Piper Raines all of which loved him very much and survive him.
Other loving family members who survive him include his brothers Ross (Meg) Raines and Don (Anne) Raines; stepfather David Coughlin, Sr.; stepbrother David Coughlin, Jr.; and many other family members.
Lee loved the Lord and was an active member of Long Hollow Baptist Church. He was a licensed Veterinarian serving the middle Tennessee area for 36 years.
A Memorial Service will be held in his honor at a later date.

Walter was born in Nashville, TN on July 28, 1952 to the late Walter D. and Anna Avalee Dyer Kirby. He was also preceded in death by a brother, David Grant Kirby.
He attended Hilldale Church of Christ and was a truck driver for Roadway Express. He was the former owner of the Bell Witch Cave in Adams, TN. He loved his wife of 49 years, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and most anything outdoors. He also enjoyed softball and baseball games when the children or grandchildren were playing.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Helen Weths Kirby of Adams; children, Melinda Carol Savage of Pleasant View, John Bryan (Valarie) Kirby of Houston, TX, Candy Elizabeth (John) Hooton of Hopkinsville, KY; grandchildren, Cole (Katlyn) Savage, Sydney Kirby, Kalie Morrison, Drew Kirby, Kara Hooton, Ellie Kirby, Autumn Savage, Hunter Hooton, Sierra Hooton; great-grandchildren, Joseph Savage and Brooklyn Savage.

Age 68 of Goodlettsville passed away Friday, October 1, 2021 at Hendersonville Medical Center. She was born October 10, 1952 in Cross Plains, TN to Dorothy Fitzpatrick. She worked as a homemaker and enjoyed most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church.
She is preceded in death by her mother; brother, James Fitzpatrick. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Floyd Denton, Goodlettsville, TN; sons, Floyd (Gloria) Denton, Jr., Robert (Eva) Denton and Anthony Denton, all of Millersville, TN; daughters, Rebecca Michelle (Harold) Harrison, White House, TN, Sherry Lynn Denton and Penny (Dewayne) Hanson, both of Millersville, TN; sister, Rita Fitzpatrick, Madison, TN; 4 grandchildren.

Obituary for Brenda Dunn “Ma’ Brenda”
Brenda Neblett Dunn was born in Robertson County, Tennessee on June 18, 1951 to the late Robert Neblett and Alo Bernice Crocker Neblett. In her home surrounded by her loved ones on September 28, 2021 she “Moved Out To Her Brand New Life”.
Brenda was a 1969 graduate of East Robertson High School. During this time she was the first person of color to be inducted into the National Honor Society. She also held a National Office in the Future Home Makers of America. Brenda paved the road for so many during her high school years. She was also a dedicated employee of Berry Plastics in Franklin, KY for over 30 years.
Brenda married Horace Dunn Jr. and to this union two beautiful daughters were born. Brenda was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. She served in several positions but her calling was Vacation Bible School because of her love for the youth. Her passion for gospel music and willingness to minister through song made her the glue that held the choir together. She held the position of Choir President for over 10 years.
Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Alo Bernice Neblett; her three brothers, Nathaniel, Danny Lee, and Chris Neblett. She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Tabitha (Michael) Blakemore and Christina Dunn; three granddaughters, Alo Brendaye Dunn, Breneesha “Shae” Dunn, and Da’Terria “DeeDee” Dunn; one grandson, Denzel Blakemore; one great grandson, Amir Taylor; one sister, Ann (Steve) Colbert; one cousin/brother, Marshall Holland. A very devoted cousin, Tony Trice; special friend, Benny Bradley. She also leaves to cherish aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews, other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sharon McCutcheon. She is survived by her husband, Tommy Ray Escue, Goodlettsville, TN; sons, Paul (Marcia) Brown, Greenbrier, TN, Allen (Peggy Bussey) Brown, Goodlettsville, TN and Charlie (Ochmaa) Escue, Bloomington, IN; daughter, Lucy (Jason) Girt, Knoxville, TN; brother, Jay (Lynda) Galbreath, Goodlettsville, TN; 3 grandchildren, Khulan, Sayana and Jacoby.

Obituary for Margaret Scharkley
Margaret Marie Scharkley was born June 16, 1958 in Robertson County, Tennessee to the late Eugene C. and Mary Lee Scharkley. At an early age she was baptized at Peach Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Gallatin, Tennessee. In 2 Corinthians 5:8, it reminds us of Paul ’s writing, “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” Margaret was called on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 to return her soul back to the Creator.
She grew up in Robertson County and later moved to Gallatin, Tennessee.
She worked as a certified nursing assistance and as a dispatcher at both Robertson and Sumner County Sheriff Department. Before her health started to decline she returned back to Springfield, Tennessee to be with her sons.
Margaret enjoyed fishing, cooking, and spending time with family and friends and gossiping especially on the phone. Margaret is preceded in death by four brothers, James Cleveland, Bobby Sr., Richard and Robert Scharkley; one sister, Bertha Louise Scharkley Mallory.

She was a wonderful sister, aunt and friend. She was a talented musician, singer and writer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonny and Annie Amos; brothers; Edmond Amos, Paul Amos and Bobby Amos and her sister, Norma Jean McCormick.
She is survived by her brother, Billy Amos; sisters; Alice Schreiber, Sandra Kelly and Wanda Amos. Her family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until her Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Austin and Bell Funeral Home, Hendersonville.

Family will receive friends at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View for a visitation on Monday, October 4th from 4:00PM-8:00PM. There will not be a service following the visitation and his remains will be cremated following the visitation.
Mr. Shales was born on August 31, 1948 in Waukegan, Illinois to the late Delbert & Maybell Creighton Shales. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War. Patrick had worked in the medical industry delivering supplies and also his recent was the grounds keeper in the school system. He loved to take care of all stray animals and was an amazing person. Patrick was a loving father, grandfather, and was proud to be an American. He was of the Catholic faith.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Misti Shales; sister, Ruthie Shales; and brothers, Bobby and James Shales.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Debra Shales; son, Bill (Patti) Shales; brothers, Butch (Sharon) Shales, Jack (Sue) Shales, and Lloyd Shales; sisters, Judith Romero & Patsy Matthews; a son by love, Medford (Patricia) Matthews; grandchildren, Xavier (Jordan) Matthews & Medford Matthews, Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Elliott and Ruby Matthews.

Age 62 of White House passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at his home following a brief illness. He was born April 28, 1959 in Niagara Falls, NY to John E. Fechner, Jr. & Patricia A. Strachan Fechner. He worked in the Nashville music industry as a sound engineer. He enjoyed music and spending time on his parent’s farm, which he had purchased.

Obituary for Joe Leroy Jackson
Joe Leroy Jackson, scholar and musician, US Naval Officer in the Korean War, loving and devoted family patriarch and friend, passed away on September 28, 2021.
Joe was born on June 19, 1928 to humble beginnings in Stayton, Tennessee. He graduated from Charlotte High School in 1947 and was Captain of the high school football team. He met Amy Ruth Wall in 1948 at an outing at the rock quarry across from Amy’s aunt’s house in Cumberland Furnace, Tennessee. They were married on July 28, 1952 in Charlotte, Tennessee. Together they raised four children: David, Roberta, Jimmy & John.
During the Korean War, Joe enlisted in the U.S. Navy and rose in rank to Navy Lieutenant Officer. He served as Band Director and later became Principal of Springfield High School. He was a professor of education at George Peabody College in Nashville from 1966 until 1972. He later became the Headmaster at Indian Springs School in Helena, Alabama.
Joe was a lifelong, self-educated musician and played double bass with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra for 14 years. Additionally, he played with the Tupelo Mississippi, Tuscaloosa and Huntsville Alabama Symphony Orchestras and taught upright bass at The Alabama School of Fine Arts, and privately at home. He was quite the sports fan and found himself cheering for the Tennessee Titans every Sunday afternoon after relocating back to Nashville in 2004.
His relationship with God was of upmost importance. He recognized the importance of hard work and determination which modeled his beliefs throughout his life. Joe had a passion for reminiscing about his early years and could remember dates better than anyone on this earth!
He is preceded in death by parents Sally Story Jackson and Robert Freeman Jackson; siblings Emmitt Jackson, Leon Jackson, Odell Jackson Wall, Louise Jackson Fowler, Ruth Jackson Simpson, and Billy Jackson. He is survived by his wife, Amy; children David, Roberta, Jimmy and John; eight grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for family and friends was held Friday, October 1 at Austin Bell Funeral Home from 4:30 – 8:00 PM. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 2 at Hendersonville Church of Christ at 11:00 AM. Burial at Union Cemetery in Dickson, TN followed the funeral at 2:30 PM.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Saturday, October 2nd from 3-6PM and again on Sunday from 3:00PM until the hour of service at 5:00PM.
Gary was born on May 10th, 1970 in Nashville, Tennessee. He worked as an electrician. He loved to play softball, golf, and enjoyed eating. Gary was an avid Alabama fan.
He is preceded in death by his father, Johnny W. Oliver; maternal grandparents, John & Nelda Perry; paternal grandfather, Johnny Oliver; and uncles, Johnny Perry, and Gary Lee Oliver.

Mrs. Covington was born August 16, 1922 in Trimble, TN to the late James Ruben and Leeona Botts Nevil. She worked as a sales clerk at Castner Knott and was a member of the Cross Plains United Methodist Church. She was a Cross Plains historian, started Cross Plains Trash and Treasure and the Cross Plains Historical Society, and loved genealogy.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Covington is preceded in death by her husband, James Covington. She is survived by her daughter, Jama Nevil (Nelson) Wright; sisters, Mickey Mullins and Mary Clymer; grandson, Jay (Carie) Wright; great-grandchildren, Sadie Wright and Saylor Wright; 1 nephew; and 3 nieces.

Mrs. Tanner was born December 19, 1943 in Klamath Falls, OR to the late Charlie F. and Mary Ellen O’Brien Capps. She worked at Johnson Electric and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Tanner is preceded in death by her son, Tony Michael Capps.
Mrs. Tanner is survived by her husband, Terry Tanner; son and daughter-in-law, Terry Roger and Kami Capps; step-son, Terry Lynn Tanner; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda Sue and Curtis Morse; step-daughters and step-son-in-law, Mary Lorene and Jackie Wolfe, and Teresa Diane Barber; brother, Jimmy Capps; sisters, Betty Russell and Maggie Evans; and two grandchildren.

Teresa Ann Morgan Allen, 73, of Springfield, passed from this life on Tuesday September 21, 2021, at TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center.
Funeral services were conducted Friday September 24th at 11:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Bishop Eugene Pitts and Pastor Joseph Hale officiating. Interment followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with all of her grandchildren serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Teresa was born June 27, 1948, in Nashville to the late Wallace Leo and Helen Virginia Wade Morgan. She was a homemaker and a member of Hope Apostolic Church in Springfield. Teresa loved shopping, working puzzles, and going to Cracker Barrel to eat. Those that knew her well, knew that she loved to eat ice. Teresa enjoyed going to church and studying God’s word. The two things she loved most in life was Jesus and especially spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Darlena Morgan Choate and Susie Morgan.
Teresa is survived by the love of her life for over 51 years, her husband Joe Allen of Springfield, by her two daughters: Tracey Knuckles and husband Timothy of Adairville, KY, Leanna Traughber and husband Joseph of Adams, by her sister: Michelle Fehrman of Orlinda, by her grandchildren: Tyler Knuckles, Dalton Knuckles, Wyatt Knuckles, Gracie Knuckles, Coby Traughber, and Lindsey Payne, and by her 9 great grandchildren.

Walter Edward Hemingway, age 89, of Hendersonville, TN, passed away September 26th at his home.
He was born on March 15, 1932, in Farmington Maine, the son of Frank W. and Sadie M. (Stoddard) Hemingway. He graduated from Farmington High School and went on to serve his country for 4 years in the U.S. Air Force, during the Korean War. After his service, he and his wife, Maxine (Holsey), moved from Texas to Temple, Maine to raise their family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Maxine, his parents, seven brothers: Leon, Robert, Willis, Raymond, Frank, Harold (Stub), and Richard Hemingway, and six sisters: Romayne Hobert, Viola Cook, Mildred Hemingway, Bertha Hellgren, Ina Eckert and Barbara Lyman.
Mr. Hemingway is survived by his daughter, Sherry Collins (Frank), sons, Donald Hemingway (Annie) and Thomas Hemingway (Vivian), grandchildren, Tasha Spruchman (Zach), Emily Hemingway, Seth Hemingway and Wyatt Hemingway, and great grandchild, Coraline May Spruchman.

Obituary for Linda Faye Taylor Patton
Linda Faye Taylor Patton was born in Robertson County in Springfield, Tennessee on March 27, 1949 to the late James Taylor and Lena Ruth Frazier Taylor. She was called to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 26, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband Leo Patton; parents; brother, Robert T. Taylor, and sister, Shirley Ann Taylor.
Linda attended and graduated from Bransford High School in the Class of 1967. After high school she served in the United States Army from 1967 -1970.
Linda, at an early age, joined Greater Whites Chapel C.M.E. Church. After relocating to the DMV area, she joined St. John ’s Baptist Church in Arlington, VA in 1988 where she was a faithful and devoted member of the Winter Season and Usher Board where she served as Secretary for many years. After returning to Springfield, she reunited with Greater South Baptist Church where she was a member of the Willing Workers where she served as secretary.
Linda had great work ethics. She was a dedicated employee and worked as an Executive Administrative Assistant at the D.C. Superior Courts in the Research and Development Division until her retirement in 2005. Linda moved back home to Springfield, Tennessee in August of 2005. Since being back she was actively involved with the Bransford Alumni Association where she served as secretary for many years. She also volunteered working to help children with CASA. Linda, like her sister, loved sports. Her favorite past time was to watch TV where she was an avid fan of Perry Mason, The Waltons and most movies black and white. She loved shopping and traveling with family and friends so much so that she was a part of the group Seniors On The Go up until her illness. Linda will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She worked in Customer Service at Walmart and babysat. She loved her family very much, especially the grandchildren and the children for whom she babysat. She enjoyed flowers, going to the races, puzzles and collecting Campbell’s Soup items.

He also loved his dog Maggie Moo and enjoyed a good greased pig contest and his pet pig Sally.

Martha Mai Dickerson was born January 17, 1943 to the late William and Dorothy Poindexter, in Springfield, Tennessee. She departed to her heavenly home on Saturday, September 25, 2021. Her smile and personality will be greatly missed.
Mai, as she was fondly known, was educated in the Robertson County School System. She graduated from Bransford High School, Class of 1960.
She had a successful career as a beautician, as well as maintaining a position at Oscar Myers from which she retired.
She was a devoted member of St. John AME Church.
Mai is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrew Dickerson; brother, James “Sim” Poindexter; sister, Brenda “Brent” Poindexter, and daughter, Mia Shaw.

Maie Wilson Edmonds, age 88 of Greenbrier, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021 at NHC Springfield.
Funeral Services were at 5pm on Sunday, September 26th at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Greenbrier with Bro. Chad Phelan and Bro. Jack Evans officiating. Jeff Wilson, Jim Perko, David Cohea, John Bush, John Twist, Wayne Semore, Harvey Major and Gary Suter served as pallbearers.
The family received friends at the church 3pm until time of service on Sunday.
She was born January 20th, 1933 in Gallatin, TN to the late Burge K. and Roxie Emma Duke Wilson. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Leo Wilson, Robert Wilson and sister, Ethelean Draper.
She worked as a Clerk / Supervisor for South Central Bell Telephone Company and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she loved to work with the young people. She loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren to whom she was affectionately known as “Gransam”. She enjoyed reading, cooking and being a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Bobby Franklin Edmonds of Greenbrier; sons, David (Venice) Edmonds of Hendersonville, Daniel (Terri) Edmonds of Pike Road, AL; grandchildren, Krista (Kevin) Sykes, Joshua (Lindsay) Edmonds, Lydia (Blake) Cobb and 6 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church Building Fund in her memory.

Obituary for Vivian Kristeen Bentley
Age 102 went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at her home. She was born May 12, 1919 in Seattle, WA to Joseph C. & Dora Paul Harrison. She was raised in Pasadena, CA. Mrs. Bentley spent her life playing piano in church. At the age of 15, she was the pianist for a college church in Pasadena. She used her talent to complement her husband’s ministry. She was a member of First Baptist Church Pomona, CA.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rev. Ralph C. Bentley; grandson, Mike Harwood; 2 brothers, Francis E. Beck and Paul D. Beck. She is survived by her son, Rev. David C. (Sheryl) Bentley, Colorado Springs, CO; daughters, Martha Bentley, Goodlettsville, TN, Debra (Terry) Robinson, White House, TN and Kris (John) Mullins, Roseburg, OR; 11 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Friday, October 1, 2021 at 2pm in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House with Rev. David C. Bentley officiating. Interment followed in Halltown Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers. Visitation was held Friday, October 1, 2021 11am until the hour of the service at the funeral home.

Obituary for Carla Smith Hogan
Carla Smith Hogan, age 52, of Pikeville, TN and formerly of Greenbrier, passed away at her home on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Hogan was born July 29, 1969 in Springfield, TN to the Mrs. Gloria Brown Smith and the late Carl Gene Smith. She is a graduate of Greenbrier High School and former employee of the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Hogan is survived by her husband, Fred Hogan, III; brother, Casey (Megan) Smith; and nephew, Oliver. She is also survived by close family friend, David Mills and her beloved rescue dog, “Oreo”.

In loving memory of Thomas Lionel Kessler born December of 1937, age 83 of Hendersonville TN, passed away on September 21, 2021.
Tommy loved being outdoors enjoying all of nature’s wonders and walking every day. He also enjoyed long conversations especially of times gone by and absolutely loved spending time with his great grandchildren. Tommy was always such a hard working man, very strong and healthy. Then CoVid.
He leaves behind 3 children (daughter in law and son in law) Mark S. Kessler (Sheila D. Kessler) of Hendersonville TN, Timothy ‘Scott’ Kessler of Nashville TN and Sherry Kessler Lawrence (David Martin Lawrence Jr) of Calera, AL.; 7 grandchildren, Cody B Kessler, Michael R Kessler, Scott T Stephenson, Chelsea D Hedrick, Krista Kessler Easterling, David Martin Lawrence lll, and Daniel Scott Lawrence; 9 great grandchildren, Zoey D Hedrick, Brylin M Hedrick, Axel T Stephenson, Paisley J Hedrick, Kamron Baylee Easterling, Darryn Blake Easterling, Mickori Jeanaye Easterling, Matthew Thomas Kessler, and Markus David Easterling; and his former wife and life long friend, Anne P. Kessler of Nashville TN.

Wendell Everette Carver, age 87, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at his home at Springfield Heights.
Graveside services were held Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 12pm in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Pastor Stephen Head officiating. Burial followed with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Private visitation was held at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield.
Mr. Carver was born September 11, 1934 in Robertson County to the late Thomas and Bessie Merideth Carver. He worked as the Manager in the Meat Department at H.G. Hills.
In addition to his parents Mr. Carver is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Head Carver; his sister, Pauline Adcock; and his half-sister, Edna.
Mr. Carver is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Michael Carver and Mark and wife, Vicki Carver; daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and husband, Lloyd Huang; sister, Ruth McClard; grandchildren, Matthew Carver, Joshua Carver and Michael Huang; and great-grandchildren, Colton Carver, Camber Carver, Matthew Carver and Sean Carver.

Ramona Magdalena Chan Chay, age 45, of Springfield, passed away Monday, September 20, 2021 at NorthCrest Medical Center.
After services here Mrs. Chan Chay’s remains were returned to her hometown in Guatemala.
Mrs. Chan Chay was born June 5, 1976 in Guatemala to Mr. Marcos Chan Tizol, who still resides in Guatemala, and the late Mrs. Virginia Chan Chay. She was a homemaker and communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
In addition to her father, Mrs. Chan Chay is survived by her husband, Antonio Perez Huinac; sons, Marcos Armando Perez Chan, Juan Alberto Perez Chan and Josue Antonio Perez Chan; and daughter, Apolonia Aracely Perez Chan.

Obituary for Jackie Bedford McMurtry Sr
Age 83 of Cottontown passed away Monday, September 20, 2021 at his home. He was born October 7, 1937 in Indianapolis, IN to Robert Lee & Maude Mae Cole McMurtry. He worked as a sprinkler fitter for the Local 669 Sprinkler Fitter’s Union until his retirement. Mr. McMurtry was a Mason and a 50 year member of the Burton Lodge, the Local #669 Sprinkler Fitters Union and Walnut Grove UMC Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and sports. He had coached little league baseball and football.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Craig Randall McMurtry; son-in-law, Christopher John Midgett; two sisters, Viva Lois Savage and Evelyn Crew; one infant sibling. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 61 years, Lollie McMurtry, Cottontown, TN; son, Jackie B. McMurtry, Jr. Cross Plains, TN; daughter, Teresa Michelle “Missy” Midgett, Cottontown, TN; sister, Peggy Young, Goodlettsville, TN; two grandchildren, Jonathan Cody Midgett and Chase Randall Midgett; one great-grandchild, Cadence Rose Midgett; five special nieces, Pat Gammons, Sharon Groves, Deborah Cook, Diana Young and Brittany Lawson.
Funeral service was held Friday, September 24, 2021 at 1pm in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House. Interment followed in Walnut Grove UMC Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation was held Thursday, September 23, 2021 4-8pm and Friday, September 24, 2021 10am until the hour of the service at the funeral home. A Masonic Service was held Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 6pm in the funeral home chapel.
