Second Shooting In Springfield Leaves One Critical

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A second shooting in Springfield has left a 26-year-old man in “very critical” condition Tuesday evening.

Springfield Police, Robertson County EMS, and the Springfield Fire Department were called to a home on Blair St between 21st Ave East and Cherry St just after 9 pm. Officials said the victim had been shot multiple times. First responders performed extreme measures to stabilize the man. He was transported to Skyline Medical’s trauma center in Nashville in very critical condition.

Officials at the scene tell Smokey Barn News that the man was shot 4 or 5 times while driving a van before crashing into a yard but it’s still very early, Springfield Police are leading the investigation.

Tonight’s shooting comes just three days after a man was shot in the leg at the corner of Memorial Blvd and 10th Ave. FULL REPORT Whether the two shootings are in any way connected will be up to the police to determine.

UPDATE: When officers arrived at the scene on Blair St, the suspect was still inside the residence. The suspect was identified as 55-year-old Billy Ray Barrow. Barrow ultimately surrendered to authorities and was taken into custody. According to Springfield officials, Barrow has been charged with attempted criminal homicide and booked into the Robertson County Detention Facility in Springfield. His bond has been set at $500,000.

Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident stemming from an argument between the two individuals. The investigation is ongoing by the Springfield Police Department.
