3rd Motorcycle Fatality in Recent Weeks: David Davis Dies Days After Greenbrier Crash
GREENBRIER, TENNESSEE – (Smokey Barn News) – Smokey Barn News has confirmed that after battling critical injuries for several days, David E. Davis, the motorcyclist involved in a severe crash in Greenbrier last Tuesday, passed away Friday night, September 13, 2024. He was 31 years old.
The accident occurred at approximately 2:22 p.m. on September 10, 2024, at the intersection of Highway 41 and Old Greenbrier Pike. LOCATION OF CRASH According to a preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), Davis was traveling north on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle when 18-year-old Evelyn G. Hammond, driving a 2018 Toyota RAV4, attempted to turn right from the left lane. The maneuver caused a collision with Davis’s motorcycle, which resulted in him losing control and sliding across the pavement, according to the THP’s report.
Davis was transported to Skyline Medical Center in critical condition. Hammond sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported for treatment. LifeFlight was initially called for Davis but ultimately, he was taken via ground ambulance.
Despite his fight for survival, David passed away late Friday. He leaves behind his wife, Cheyenne, and their three daughters, Addison, Natalie, and Myla. Known to his friends and family as “Double D,” David was a dedicated Army veteran and heavy equipment operator in the construction industry. According to his family, David’s legacy of kindness and commitment to his loved ones will live on.
David’s wife Cheyenne wanted to thank everyone who has reached out to her family emotionally and financially. She also wanted to thank all the first responders who made the effort to save David’s life.
Visitation services will be held at Springfield Memorial Gardens on September 16 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on September 17 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A celebration of his life will follow.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation, and charges are pending against Hammond, according to THP officials.
