TWRA Confirms Black Bear Sighting In Cross Plains

CROSS PLAINS, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – According to officials with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA), Robertson County has its first confirmed sighting of a black bear this year, specifically in the Cross Plains area.

The bear was captured on camera near Horseshoe Rd I-65 overpass. MAP TWRA officials confirmed the sighting and are monitoring the situation.

Officials generally advise residents to avoid approaching bears, secure garbage and pet food, and give the animal plenty of space if encountered.

While this is the first confirmed bear sighting in Robertson County according to TWRA, it is not the first time bears have been reported in the area.

In 2019, a bear was spotted during Cross Plains’ annual Trash & Treasures event. FULL STORY HERE.
