Springfield City Manager To Retire
SPRINGFIELD TENNESSE: (Smokey Barn News) – According to Springfield Mayor Ann Schneider, after three years on the job, Springfield’s City Manager Gina Holt will be retiring, effective December 31st.
In a letter addressed to the Board yesterday, Holt said the decision came with mixed emotions. “It’s hard to believe I started with the city back in the fall of 1990,” Holt said in the letter.
Holt said her goal was to hire a capable Assistant City Manager and prepare that person to be the next City Manager. “I believe Ryan Martin is that person,” Holt said. “I hope the Board appoints Ryan as soon a possible to assure continuity of operations.” The full letter has been added to this report.
According to a release from the City Of Springfield, Holt’s career in public service began after college. She initially planned to enter the business world but found herself in Washington, D.C. serving in various roles. She worked in the White House for President Reagan’s Office of Management and Budget and served a stint at the State Department. She also served on United States Senator Howard Baker’s staff in Washington. While working for Sen. Baker, she served with a young intern who would later become the Governor of Tennessee, Bill Haslam.

We will miss her tremendously, but we are better as a city because of her. On a personal note, I will miss working with her every day.
