Firefighters Jump Into Action Amid Multiple Fires on Saturday
ROBERTSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Local firefighters faced a busy Saturday, responding to four separate fires across Robertson County. Here’s a breakdown of the fires and their locations.
Garage Fire Near Downtown Springfield
The first fire occurred early Saturday morning, the first call coming into 911 at 2:23 a.m.. A garage located on fire on 5th Avenue near downtown Springfield had become a fireball. The structure, positioned dangerously close to a home, was quickly extinguished by the Springfield Fire Department. Storage building on Highway 76
At 8:23 a.m., firefighters were called to a fire on Highway 76. MAP While the structure remains standing thanks to the great work of our Firefighters, the interior sustained heavy damage, and its contents—including two vehicles and a motorcycle—were destroyed.
Officials on the scene indicated the building might be classified as a total loss due to damage to its beams and joists. Officials are still looking for the exact cause of the fire but at the moment, the classification is accidental.
The fire garnered a multi-agency response, including the Greenbrier Fire Department, the Cross Plains Fire Department, the Orlinda Fire Department, the White House Community Volunteer Fire Department, The Robertson County Emergency Management Agency, Robertson County EMS, and Rehab 83. House Fire on DiMaggio Drive
Just after noon, at 12:38 p.m., firefighters responded to a house fire on DiMaggio Drive in Springfield MAP. Initially reported as a fire in the attic. Springfield Firefighters quickly brought the situation under control, one official reporting; “very little fire and very little damage.” Their swift efforts prevented significant damage to the home.
Grass Fire on Greer Road
Minutes later, at 12:57 p.m., the Ridgetop Fire Department was dispatched to a grass fire on Greer Road. MAP Fortunately, crews were able to contain it quickly, preventing further spread.
Needless to say, what could have been a far worse day for some Robertson County residents was kept under control thanks to the hard work of our local firefighters. Their dedication to protecting lives and property is even more impressive when you consider that many of them are volunteers.
