June 26-27: (Springfield, TN) Amateur Radio Operators Field Day Event
ALL ENTHUSIASTS INVITED!
The Robertson County Amateur Radio Club will be participating in the 2021 ARRL (American Radio Relay League) Field Day Event on June 26-27. They will be located at the pavilion behind the Springfield YMCA.
This is an annual event in which amateur radio operators all across the country set up their equipment in remote locations attempting to make as many radio contacts as possible in a 24 hour period. This event is to demonstrate the use of amateur radio in the field in national and regional disaster situations.
Staff of Northcrest Medical Center will also be on hand offering free blood pressure tests, to discuss health related issues, and provide information on the Northcrest Medical Center Facilities from 11:00AM to 2:00PM on Saturday June 26th.
Come Join us and watch live amateur radio demonstrations and ask any question you may have about amateur radio beginning at 1:00PM Saturday, June 26th. It’s a great hobby!

“Due to circumstances beyond our control, the celebration of fireworks and music at Kilgore Park on the Fourth is CANCELLED. BUT The Remembrance at Kilgore Cemetery is STILL ON and eveyrone is welcome to attend. Saturday morning July 3 at 9. Springfield Parks & Recreation Free Movie Fridays & Summer Concerts
The Springfield Parks & Recreation Department is excited to once again partner with Walmart of Springfield to bring free, family-friendly movies to Springfield as part of Free Movie Fridays.
Free Movie Fridays will be held on the third Friday of each month, June through September at the Robertson County Fairgrounds.

The Robertson County Sheriff’s office, Robertson County Emergency Medical Services, the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency, the Ridgetop Fire Department and other local first responders would like to invite everyone to join with them to participate in the Remembering the Badges Blood Drive in memory of the 20th anniversary of 9/11.
This event will be held Thursday, July 1st, 2021 at the Robertson County Fairgrounds.

Robertson County Sheriff’s Office – 🚨SCAM WARNING🚨
The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office is receiving reports of phone scammers posing as Sheriff’s Office Deputies.
In this scam, the caller tells the victim that they have an outstanding bond, and if they do not pay it with a credit card number or gift card over the phone, they will be arrested.
The scammers may use technology to “spoof” the Sheriff’s Office phone number, and even identify with a name of a current Sheriff’s Office employee.
REMEMBER – The Sheriff’s Office does NOT call and demand money for bond, warrants, tickets, fines, etc.
Please spread the word to help prevent someone from being a victim!

Martin’s Chapel Annual BBQ Is Back, Set For June 26
The annual Martin’s Chapel Barbecue tradition in Springfield, TN is back this year but with a few minor changes. Event coordinators have been hard at work trying their best to finalize plans.
“Thanks to Debbie Mayes and Holly Biggs, with Lindsay Wilson treasurer, and help from the whole community, this could not be done without everyone’s help,” said coordinator Brenda Wilson.

Portland TN Fire Department – Although fireworks will be allowed to be sold starting June 20th, the discharging of fireworks is not allowed until June 25th.

Turning of the Pig is set for July 3rd from 5-9pm behind Greenbrier City Hall! Many vendors, delicious food, great entertainment, and fun games for the kids. GREENBRIER 4TH OF JULY PARADE
Greenbrier Historical Society will sponsor the Greenbrier 4th of July Parade on Sunday, July 4 at 4:00 PM.
The parade route will run from Greenbrier Elementary School to Greenbrier Middle School.
Parade participants should arrive at G.E.S. between 3:00 and 3:30 PM to line up and will be allowed to throw candy to spectators along the sidewalks.
The 2021 co-Grand Marshals will be Brandon Frank and Jody Dorris.

Robertson County, TN – I65 Near Millersville
Some animals, including a python, escaped from an overturned camper on I 65 south near Millersville Tuesday. Fortunately, the driver was not critically injured and no other injuries were reported. The animals also appear to be in good condition, according to Detective Chuck Consiglio with the Millersville Police Department.

Phase (1) Of Electrolux $250-Mill Mfg. Expansion Project In Springfield Officially Opens
On Monday morning, Electrolux hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening of its new Springfield warehouse. This is the first section of the more than $250 million factory expansion to open at its Springfield manufacturing campus Smokey first told you about back in January of this year. The warehouse connects to the new factory by way of an underground tunnel that is a quarter of a mile long.
“We are modernizing our factory, advancing our employee’s manufacturing skills and making a significant investment in the Springfield community,” said Nolan Pike, head of Electrolux North America. “Today’s celebration opens our new state-of-the-art, energy-efficient warehouse, the first section of the expansion to launch.” READ MORE

After 45 Years, Reunion Brings Marines Together. A Robertson County story.
CROSS PLAINS TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Mike Yarlett of Cross Plains hosted a reunion for his Marine Corps platoon (unit Fox Co. 2nd Bn, 2nd Mar, 2nd MarDiv.) on June 12th. It was an event three years in the making for a group of Marines that had not seen each other in over 40 years.
Their platoon was stationed at Camp Lejeune North Carolina in the mid to late seventies. “The majority of us have not seen each other for 45 years,” said Mike Yarlett who hosted the event at his home in Cross Plains Tennessee. With all the bad news and tragedies that are happening around the world, I thought maybe this little bit of good news might brighten up the day of Americans and Veterans.” READ MORE…

TN 3 Day Sales Tax Holidays (Food, Gun Equipment, School Supplies) & 2021-2022 Schools Open House Dates
There will be three sales tax holidays this summer starting July 30th. The Tennessee General Assembly has approved two more sales tax holidays in addition to the traditional sales tax holiday on clothing, school supplies, and computers. Residents will now be able to purchase food tax-free as well as gun safes and gun safety devices.

You spoke and we listened. This year you’ll experience expanded food truck options by alternating food trucks during markets. Santa Fe will be with us for a market each month and another always different food truck will be there for the other market during the month. Also, we’ve added some new local vendors and are switching several vendors out each market to ensure variety and help us keep our market exciting and fresh. We have increased our roster of local farmers and growers, so this year you’ll be seeing more produce and organic products; especially as produce and other products come in and reach harvest time.
We work tirelessly to try and bring you local vendors with local products. If you are interested in being a vendor, please message me and let me know. Outside vendors are welcome, but priority will be set on local availability, range of products, etc.
